Veeam Backup & Replication

Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication

I use [Veeam Backup & Replication] to backup our Server and 10+ workstations. I have also deployed it among numerous client's networks to backup their Server's and Workstations.
It has been a major help since Windows Server Essentials 2019 and later have removed their Built-in Workstation/Client Backup System.
We have also used it multiple times to perform Bare-Metal Restores of systems that have had their hard drive physically fail. Veeam Software literally made the process effortless!
  • Endpoints and physical servers running Windows & Linux
  • Virtualized workloads
  • Cloud-hosted VMs within AWS or Azure
  • Application-centric recovery using Veeam Explorers (for Exchange, SQL, Sharepoint, etc)
  • Automating test restores to validate recoverability
  • Immutable storage to protect against ransomware
  • “Instant” recovery or portability between platforms (physical > virtual > cloud-hosted)
  • Automating test restores to validate recoverability
  • Bare-Metal Restore using a Simple Thumb Drive!
  • Complete Backups of Client Workstations to the Server
  • Supporting Multiple External Backup Hard drives (destinations) to allow for off-site storage of Backups, etc.
  • Data Deduplication should be easier to implement for Client Workstation Backups
We currently have 10+ physical workloads being protected. This includes Laptops, Desktops and our main Server. This is more than we had anticipated because of the addition of the Laptops that we now also include in our backup regimen.
  • The time saved because of the Restore simplicity with Veeam is invaluable
  • The affordability of Veeam compared to other less capable backup software programs is invaluable
When Windows Server Essentials 2019 removed Client Backup capability from it's repertoire we were in Dire need of a backup solution for our entire network. Veeam [Backup & Replication] fills that need. It is not quite as simple as when Windows Server Essentials 2019 had built-in Client Backup capability, but it is as simple as one can expect when having to go with a 3rd party solution.
We currently use iDrive for cloud backup, but still use the iDrive software itself to backup our server to the cloud.
We have not utilized the NAS/File-share backup solution and have no plans to do so at this point in time. This is due to the fact that it is unnecessary in our current workload, not because the Veeam software is inadequate in that regard.
[Veeam Backup & Replication] is perfect for anything from a Home Network with a Server to a SMB with a Server that wants full protection of the Server and Client/Workstations in case of the need for a Bare-Metal Restore due to hardware failure or Ransomware/Malware.
Veeam works, it is very reliable, handles multiple back-up destinations, Bare-Metal restore is effortless and it is easy to manage.
