Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication
We are using Veeam to backup our complete virtual environment across four datacenters. We are also replicating the backup between datacenters. This addresses our backup requires with offsite storage.
- Virtualized workloads
- In addition to back up, we also replicate some of these workloads
- Cloud-hosted VMs within AWS or Azure
- Application-centric recovery using Veeam Explorers (for Exchange, SQL, Sharepoint, etc)
- Automating test restores to validate recoverability
- “Instant” recovery or portability between platforms (physical > virtual > cloud-hosted)
Pros
- Easy file level backup and recovery
- Site to site replication
- Cloud provider integration
Cons
- Database aware backups
- Bandwidth throttling with replication
We have four datacenters. We are replicating between all four sites.
- The solution replaced the need for any tape backup
- The solution replaced the need for off site storage, Iron Mountain
Tape backup solutions failing. The Veeam Backup works 100% better than the Symantec/Tape Backup solutions we had.
We are using the Veeam Cloud backup for our Office 365 Environment. That solution is completely hosted in Azure.
