Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication

We are using Veeam to back up our SharePoint file server in distinct geographic locations. It provides us with the ultimate redundancy in case 365 is unreachable or we are targeted with some form of cryptolocking malware. Management determined that, although Microsoft provides very robust backup services, we needed our business critical files and infrastructure to be protected at all costs.
  • Endpoints and physical servers running Windows & Linux
  • In addition to back up, we also snapshot some of these workloads
  • Virtualized workloads
  • Automating test restores to validate recoverability
  • Immutable storage to protect against ransomware
  • Failover or recovery scripts/plans for orchestrated recovery
  • Immutable storage to protect against ransomware
  • Ease of use.
  • Extremely reliable, which was our number 1 criteria.
  • Documentation is very easy to find, as are experts who can assist if disaster strikes.
  • We found its speed is also important, as is its manageable footprint.
  • A web based console for administrators would be awesome.
  • Time estimates have been pretty wildly off at times. Small issue though.

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Veeam Data Platform again?

Yes

We have a very large SharePoint site backed up in batches hourly. We needed it to do this one thing and it's done it wonderfully.
  • It's paid for itself many times over.
  • It's allowed us to pursue sales opportunities that required extreme attention to security.
I wasn't present at the time, but I gather that a contained crypto lock attack spooked management into taking data backup extremely seriously.
We backup from on-site to a physical NAS in another location. We haven't worked it ino pur cloud apps yet.
Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365), Microsoft Teams, Cognito Forms
We have found that Veeam is very well suited for providing backup and redundancy for cloud based file sharing systems. We use SharePoint sites accessed through teams and groups, and Veeam gives my CEO piece of mind that our critical data is protected multiple different ways. Being able to spread backups across geography and systems has been a real breath of fresh air, given the current state of play regarding cybersecurity.
