Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication

We presently use Veeam Backup and Replication as our core backup solution for all servers including our Hyper-V environments. Previously the backup solutions in place were either poor or unreliable. Veeam Backup and Replication has easily filled this gap with an easy to implement and use system that is very reliable - not only for small restorations, but through to complete virtual environment restorations.
  • Virtualized workloads
  • Endpoints and physical servers running Windows & Linux
  • Cloud-hosted VMs within AWS or Azure
  • NAS filers
  • Application-centric recovery using Veeam Explorers (for Exchange, SQL, Sharepoint, etc)
  • “Instant” recovery or portability between platforms (physical > virtual > cloud-hosted)
  • Failover or recovery scripts/plans for orchestrated recovery
  • “Instant” recovery or portability between platforms (physical > virtual > cloud-hosted)
  • Restorations are extremely easy and work first go.
  • Adding in additional systems for backup with extremely easy.
  • Implementation is a piece of cake!
  • It is somewhat resource hungry so requires more hardware to get up and running.
  • It is a bit clunky on slower systems - in that some windows appear slowly, etc.
  • Further explanation of things within the software would be beneficial.

We presently cover approximately 30 virtual servers across 7 physical servers, plus a number of other physical servers are also backed up. Through some rationalization, we have been able to reduce some of the workloads and therefore require less licenses for Veeam Backup & Replication.

The protection provided by Veeam Backup and Replication has been extremely beneficial to the business.
  • Reliable backups have been extremely beneficial.
  • Veeam is still a costly product. However the cost is justified as it is n extremely good product.
  • Countless hours have been saved by having a reliable backup solution in place.
The backup solution in place was extremely poor and did not provide a reliable restoration capacity for the business. Further, any backups that were in place were cumbersome and unreliable.

The difference between before Veeam and after Veeam is immeasurable. Without Veeam we would still have a poor backup solution in place.
As we are primarily an on-premise business, our cloud requirements from Veeam Backup and Restoration have not been very big. Therefore we have not invested a lot of time in this area.
We have benefited from utilising our current NAS environment as a storage location of our Veeam backups. This has been extremely beneficial as it as reduced our storage costs immensely.
It filled our backup requirements easily. Implementation into the physical and virtual environments was simple and straightforward, with backups working very quickly. Further to this, the various restoration features worked effortlessly and allowed for the business to continue easily - even while waiting for full restorations to complete in the background.
