Great experience using Veeam Backup and Replication for Office 365
Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Backup & Replication
Currently, we are using Veeam Backup % Replication to protect our Office 365 infrastructure. That includes Inboxes (mails, calendars), Sharepoint Sites, Teams, and users. Our infrastructure is deployed online on Azure, in order to consolidate all Microsoft products in one cloud provider. We need a cloud solution that would improve O365 backup capabilities. That product was VB&R. We migrated from another product that did not meet our expectations
- Cloud-hosted VMs within AWS or Azure
- In addition to back up, we also snapshot some of these workloads
- Virtualized workloads
- Endpoints and physical servers running Windows & Linux
- Cloud-hosted VMs within AWS or Azure
- In addition to back up, we also replicate some of these workloads
- In addition to back up, we also snapshot some of these workloads
- Capacity Tier to store data within object storage for longer term retention
- “Instant” recovery or portability between platforms (physical > virtual > cloud-hosted)
Pros
- Backing up user's inboxes
- Backing up Sharepoint's sites
- Backing up Teams channels
Cons
- More workers to improve overall bandwidth
- cannot migrate between jobs
- cannot change backup job types

Yes
Currently, we are using Veeam Backup & Replication to protect our users' inboxes. We have over 5000 inboxes in our company. To store that data we are using cold storage on Azure because it is very cheap. In a period of 2 years, we had to increase the licenses we bought originally because we increase our payroll.
- When we began we needed to recover 200 mailboxes, it was quite simple
- Because we are protected, we are also compliant with our security guidelines department
- We have over 200 sharepoint sites, all protected. One less headache for our managers
We were worried about having all our data in Azure's Office 365 service and with only the default 30 days trashcan recovery options. We need a backup policy that would go as far as 5 years into the past, in order to be compliant with our industry standards. With Backup & Replication, we were able to accomplish this. Before buying Backup & Replication we had another cloud solution that never worked we did not find out about this until we need to restore an inbox. That was the trigger we needed in order to find a new solution.
As I have explained before, we are using Veeam Backup & Replication software to fully back up our Office 365 cloud solution. Without this software, we did not have the protection needed in order to be compliant with our industry security standards. Aside from that, all backup data resides on Azure, so it is a 100% cloud-native solution, eliminating the latencies that might be experienced between clouds and/or on-premises workloads.
We are not currently using Veeam Backup and Protection NAS of File share backup solution in our environment. We cannot provide insights regarding this feature at this moment of writing this review.
In the future we would consider testing and implementing it for our NAS insfrastructure, for both CIFS and NFS services.
