Veeam Backup & Replication

Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform

Veeam offered us an easy way to backup and replicate data that is important to us. The data needed is crucial to our business, and if lost, could cost a lot in revenue. We are able to backup data from multiple locations, along with the ability to move our virtual machines from one location to another for disaster recovery purposes. We have tested the recovery many times and has not failed us yet. Excellent product.
  • Virtualized workloads
  • Endpoints and physical servers running Windows & Linux
  • In addition to back up, we also replicate some of these workloads
  • In addition to back up, we also snapshot some of these workloads
  • Cloud-hosted VMs within AWS or Azure
  • None of the above
  • None of the above
  • Restoring Data
  • Backing up Data
  • Migrating Virtual Machines
  • Extracting VMDK's for Recovery
  • There is currently no Proxmox integration
  • When restoring VMDK's, allow network locations and not just local. Sometimes we don't have the space locally
  • Better descriptions on how the licenses are applied. Maybe a bubble of what each section for licensing covers.

Did implementation of Veeam Data Platform go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Veeam Data Platform again?

Yes

We currently backup around 15 VM's. We are hoping to be able to backup more in the future as our budget allows. As of right now, we have the main candidates that we are focusing on to backup, and also use Veeam to move VM's around when we retire some of the older hardware.
  • Only negative is no Proxmox integration
  • Positive thing is price is decent. Obviously the cheaper the better
  • We've had a great experience with the product so far
We were looking for a solution that was easy to manage and didn't break the bank. Also, so of the backups we were doing were at the SAN level, but we didn't have an easy way to move data around. With Veeam we still use a SAN for the backend, but the frontend of the software allows us to connect to different methods to allow us to move and/or recover data.
As of right now, we are not utilizing the cloud capabilities of Veeam. We hope that we can integrate this in the future with some of our products and tools. Right now recovery for the cloud has not been needed as, our provider is very stable. Unforeseen things can happen, so hopefully sooner than later we can integrate.
We use this extensively as our backup source. All backups go to the NAS repository which is accessible from multiple locations. Our NAS is also very robust and is a full SSD array, so backup and recovery is very fast.
For backup and restoration of data it works great in most circumstances. When having to migrate data or move from one platform to another, it could be easier. Also having more integration with other products would be greatly beneficial. Proxmox being one of them, as this is becoming used more and more. I'm not sure if containers can be migrated or backed up, so if they can't, I see that being very useful.
