Veeam Backup & Replication

Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform

We're using Veeam as our data backup solution. It works great and we appreciate the features it offers compared to other backup options. We were previously using Symantec and it did not match up to the robust features Veeam has to offer. I would highly recommend anyone looking for a backup solution to at least demo this product.
  • Virtualized workloads
  • Endpoints and physical servers running Windows & Linux
  • In addition to back up, we also replicate some of these workloads
  • Cloud-hosted VMs within AWS or Azure
  • Application-centric recovery using Veeam Explorers (for Exchange, SQL, Sharepoint, etc)
  • Utilizing backup copies for secondary purposes via DataLabs
  • Application-centric recovery using Veeam Explorers (for Exchange, SQL, Sharepoint, etc)
  • File and folder recovery
  • Streamlined backups
  • Replication
  • So far we are happy with all the features we are currently using.

Do you think Veeam Data Platform delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Veeam Data Platform's feature set?

Yes

Did Veeam Data Platform live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Veeam Data Platform go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Veeam Data Platform again?

Yes

25 workloads are currently being protected. This is on par with what we expected. We knew going in how many workloads we needed to protect and Veeam worked perfectly to fit that need. We were also informed that if we need to expand that number, it would be easy to do so.
  • Made file and folder recovery much easier.
  • Good return on investment
Our last backup solution was unreliable and cumbersome to use. Veeam has solved both of those issues. Symantec feel short on many of the features we needed. Veeam was there to fill in the gaps and offer things we didn't even realize we were missing. It became obvious from the beginning we made the right choice.
We are not currently using cloud features. In the future, we may consider using some of the cloud based features. However, we presently don't have a need for those features. Our Veeam rep assured us if that need arises, it will be an easy transition to take advantage of in the future.
We do not currently use the NAS backup solution. We already have a NAS solution that we like and that's integrated into our workflow. To transition off just doesn't make sense at the moment. However, if that need changes we will definitely look into using Veeam as we are happy with the products we are currently using.
Compared to our last backup solution, I would highly recommend Veeam. We used Symantec previously for our backups and it was cumbersome and lacked the necessary features we needed. When we demoed Veeam, we knew right away it was going to be far and away a better product that would suit our needs.
