Your Secure Backup
Overall Satisfaction with Veeam Data Platform
I use it to back up my virtual machines and some databases. The problem is that, since I have it synced with Azure, I run into synchronization issues when uploading the backups to the cloud, and I have to contact support to resync the backups I have locally. The scope of the company's backup process covers the company's computers (PCs) and servers.
Pros

Cons

- Cloud-hosted VMs within AWS or Azure
- Capacity Tier to store data within object storage for longer term retention
- Automating test restores to validate recoverability
- Immutable storage to protect against ransomware
- Automating test restores to validate recoverability
So far, I have nine virtual workloads and six cloud workloads; I don't currently have any physical workloads. This is exactly what I expected when I purchased the application, since I had used it at other companies and knew its capabilities and what it could do in terms of backups.
- the cost-benefit ratio favorable
- configure cloud jobs directly from the app
- Immutability of backups and their retention periods
I used to use an application that was very difficult to configure; it didn’t offer many backup options and wasn’t compatible with certain environments, which led me to switch to Veeam Backup, which has the following features:1. Easy job configuration2. Compatibility with many platforms for performing backups3. Data immutability4. Fast restoration.
Well, there are a few things about this that I'm not too happy with—specifically, the cloud synchronization with my local backup. I've had several issues with that; I'm not sure if it's because it's not very compatible with Azure, but I've had to call support to get help with that synchronization issue. As for cloud restores, I've performed several and they've worked very well for me. Although I’ve only done small restores, I don’t think there’s any difference compared to a larger-scale restore.
Well, so far my organization hasn't used this service with Veeam Data Platform, so we can't really comment on it. I think it's good that it offers this service; if at any point my organization needs to use it, we'll be sure to look into what it can do and what it can achieve with unstructured data, since I'm currently using this service with another platform.
As I explained earlier, the differences in how each application behaves come down to configuration. In my opinion, Veeam Data Platform is more user-friendly than the other applications mentioned. I’ve already used it at previous companies, so I know what it can do and how far it can go—based on the factors I mentioned earlier that led me to choose Veeam Data Platform over the other applications.
