Overall Satisfaction with Vertex

Vertex supports both our sales transactions and purchase transactions for U.S. sales and use tax.

Pros

  • Completes timely filings on our behalf.
  • Completes accurate filings on our behalf.
  • Communicates directly with us should the need arise.
  • Vertex has dedicated, knowledgeable personnel assigned to our account.
  • Vertex does an excellent job of handling our U.S. sales and use tax filings.

Cons

  • Would appreciate notification status and updates from the notice portal (i.e. active notice notification; closed notice notification). Although we don't receive many notices this would be a nice feature.
  • Vertex provides us with outstanding compliance reporting.
  • Vertex provides us with outstanding communication related to our tax filings and reporting.
Vertex provides us with an accurate, timely compliance spreadsheet which we use to reconcile our monthly transactions prior to approving our returns for filing. This procedure is priceless to us.
Vertex has always been available for any questions and to update our account as we register any new jurisdiction filing. This communication and data update for new jurisdiction reporting allows for accurate filings from day 1.
Vertex provides us with the ability to review and approve an actual return prior to filing. This gives us the information we need to feel the return copy we see before approval is accurate.
In my opinion, there is no comparison of Vertex customer service oriented approach to clients vs. Avalara. I think Vertex by far outshines Avalara 10 to 1.
In my experience, communication with Vertex is much more streamlined and handled efficiently than with Avalara.
In my experience, the ability of seeing an actual return copy prior to return approval which Vertex provides in non-existent with Avalara.
