Overall Satisfaction with Vista by Viewpoint

Vista is currently being used mainly by our office staff, but as we implement Keystyle and Viewpoint Team, it's moving across the entire company. Viewpoint itself is very customizable. We've added plenty of additional fields and some tables. Keystyle is amazing. Keystyle is allowing us to go more and more paperless, while also pushing documents directly into Vista. Team we've just purchased, so I can't go into that much, but it should be extremely helpful for our field.
  • Customizable -- endless user defined fields and tables can be added, among other things.
  • Paperless -- eventually, but it's definitely helping!
  • Expense and invoice review process can be done from anywhere, anytime (formerly Keystyle)
  • Speed of major updates and fixes could be faster. Every 6-9 months for major updates is longer than I'd prefer.
  • Clearview, aka their knowledgebase, doesn't search very easily.
  • Crystal hasn't been updated in eons, which clashes with one of our other programs (FAS Asset Accounting).
  • Expensive! Great software, but it's expensive.
  • We needed a replacement for our old, outdated software, and Vista picked up very well. Implementation did take almost a full year though.

It's a great software that's developed very well. It's very customizable, especially if you have someone in house that's able to do a bit of coding. For anyone doing their own payroll, which we do, it can do anything we've needed it to do.

Using Vista by Viewpoint

130 - Most if not all areas -- Payroll, HR, Job Cost, AR, AP, Contracts, Equipment, etc..
1 - I'm the admin for Vista. I've been running it since we went live Jan 2016. As far as skills, attention to detail and the ability to problem solve are the most important.

  • UD fields have been great. They allow us to add items that we can use outside of Vista
It's very customizable and accessible outside of Vista itself (SQL, Excel, home grown programs, etc.), but Viewpoint is very slow at fixing bugs and adding suggestions from their suggestion box. If this last area was better, I would have given this a 9 or 10.

Evaluating Vista by Viewpoint and Competitors

Yes - StreetSmarts -- Viewpoint purchased them and it was going away. We did evaluate other products but Vista suited our needs best.

Vista by Viewpoint Support

Their chat option is very helpful for quick, simple questions. Their critical support typically gets back to me within 20-30 minutes, but their non-critical support can sometimes be a little slow to get back with you. Over the past couple of years (2020-2021), their online chat support has gone downhill. This started when they added the "bot". It doesn't open until close to 9 AM, and when you do start chatting with the bot you have no idea if there is an actual person available to talk to. You can literally get all the way through the chat with the bot, be transferred to a "person" and there's no one in the queue so you get a case opened with a base priority. Very disappointing.

Yes - They are resolved, but they usually take months. Far slower than they used to be before the publicly traded company bought them out (pre Trimble).
