Overall Satisfaction with vSphere

Currently, we're using vSphere across our small organization. It allows us to maintain many machines with ease. Instead of creating and managing physical servers, we can spin up test environments quickly.
  • Easy VM management, including storage and CPUs.
  • Fault tolerance is great.
  • Some alerts fail to fire.
  • Trouble with Linux support in terms of a standalone client.
  • Positive for testing since we can create machines quickly and manage them.
  • Negative in that the cost has forced us to try to use it for everything to ensure our ROI goals are met.
We came from VirtualBox where every user had their own VMs and was responsible for managing them. Turns out that's not a great solution when people leave or when disaster strikes. Further, the performance was abysmal.
Getting set-up was easy. We haven't really needed support since, but when we have they've been wonderful.
