Overall Satisfaction with Vultr
We use Vultr for 2 use cases, as our test environment, to be able to quickly deploy an instance for testing and for a server that we plan to keep on full-time for a customer or production use case. Vultr makes it much easier to spin up a server than AWS and Azure and it is cost effective for full-time use. The only thing it doesn't have is the ability to turn off the device and just pay storage costs similar to AWS or Azure, so it's useful for short-term or long-term servers.
Pros
- Very easy to deploy windows or linux quickly
- The cost is good compared to others
- Snapshots work well to restore quickly
Cons
- Ability to reduce cost when instances or turned off
- Increased our testing environment by quickly deploying linux and windows
- Able to quickly provide a new server to developers as needed
Easy to scale the memory and cpu and the OS to fit the budget you have in mind. Billing only takes place while the server is deployed, so once you destroy the server, no more billing which is nice. I only wish you could turn the server off and pay a smaller storage fee to save even more.
We deploy US only servers.
Vultr is much easier to get started with, less things to configure, a simpler interface. To deploy and manage a server is much easier. I am sure for a production SaaS app there are features in AWS and Azure that are needed, but for dev/test environment, I prefer Vultr.
