Vultr saving us time and money and allowing us to provide value to our customers customers.
Overall Satisfaction with Vultr
As a web agency, I need great hardware to support my customer's web sites. We use WordPress, leveraging GridPane, and Vultr has been the standard go to for our VPS needs. Our clients range from small to large, and we need to have the ability to scale our servers accordingly. Vultr makes this a dream to work with.
Since I also need to monitor all my servers, I can house a Prometheus server in Vultr as well, keeping my entire system within one eco system.

Pros
- Good performance from servers close to me and my customers
- Ease of spinning up new servers
- Great service levels of servers I spin up
- Notifications of issues or downtime come through quickly, allowing me to handle client queries with knowledge in hand.
Cons
- There have been times where my VPS is affected by a noisy nieghbour. Would be good to have this actively monitored and mitigated.
- Being based in South Africa, it would be nice to have pricing parity options for weaker countries (even if for lower level servers). Sometimes I need throw away or temporary servers, but USD 5 is still expensive in weaker currencies, and can stack up quickly.
This biggest benefit here is the wide range of VPS options. I can select exactly what I need for my customers. Some share servers, and being able to balance number of sites to VPS specifications has been extremely helpful.
High bandwidth ceilings means that I am not at risk of customer sites being throttled or taken offline (or racking up expenses).
Yes. Having servers in South Africa, a primary area for us, means that our customers' customers get a great experience. Having a wide selection geographically means that our customers can have a server close to their customers. We have servers across the world, and have yet to find somewhere that cannot benefit our customers.
From the perspective of the above, Vultr provides the best balance of cost vs. performance for us. Cloudways stacks a large fee for each VPS you spin up, and this quickly escalates. Linode comes closest (at least when I used it a few years ago) to Vultr, and 3 years ago this would be a much closer race.
