Overall Satisfaction with Webflow

I was once using Webflow in earlier organisation, then discontinued it, and I have started using it again, for my masters thesis project at Akkodis. I have incorporated various interesting tools including Webflow. There are a lot of new features like redesigned UI with simplified color palette, layout controls and I can also use site locales, country combos and translation workflows for the German language, which broadens the site reach.

Pros

  • Many free templates to get some ideas flowing
  • Multilingual support, like translation workflows
  • Flexibility with respect to editing with edit mode to build sites efficiently
  • Better control over layouts
  • Variety of simplified color palette

Cons

  • I would say the learning curve for people who used older UI is a little confusing because of many changes
  • Like i said, more control has brought more complexity and has no simpler menus
  • I read that the legacy editor will be deprecated by end of 2025 which will be replaced by new ones that may or may not be free
  • I'm learning a professional grade tool that adds value to my profile and stands out
  • The free version restricts the growth, as only 2 static pages live and 20 to 25 posts, and the organisation has to invest to build it in the long term
  • Consumes time to learn and build, but then, if it's a free version, ROI is slower in comparison to other free platforms like WordPress
I would give 8 and above if there were more professional features available in the free version. Nevertheless, I believe it's worth the price for the long term since the portfolios or sites feel super legit even with the free version. The satisfaction of a beautifully looking site in the free version feels empowering, although the learning curve with the new UI is complex. Apart from this, sites designed with no code is a wow feeling, and I'm not stuck with rigid templates like other platforms.
So, Webflow gave me the freedom that other platforms didn't in terms of not needing to code (in comparison to WordPress), and the site looks like a professional page rather than a generic average one, and then in terms of having more than just writing key findings (in comparison to medium) like a site that feels unique and sophisticated. Finally, all in all, Webflow is harder at start but the results are eye pleasing and its totally worth the time.

Do you think Webflow delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Webflow's feature set?

Yes

Did Webflow live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Webflow go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Webflow again?

Yes

Since the purpose in my case is to build a small professional looking site to present project outcomes and other research, I can create custom fields and design experimentations. Webflow builds sites that are super professional, with many amazing templates that don't look cheap. Additionally, I can test responsive layouts. Apart from this, I used 1-2 static pages to illustrate key findings for example what a multilingual site could look like with screenshots without needing CMS in free version, which are all the valuable skills to acquire. Compared to WordPress, Webflow is expensive with limited free features, although it has really cool additional features that will make the site I build stand out.
