Our organization adopted email encryption to provide an enterprise wide solution to protect sensitive data.
  • The integrated Outlook add-in is a simple to use option which allows on-demand email encryption.
  • The DLP configuration allows our corporation to detect and encrypt email messages which may contain sensitive data.
  • The hosted solution makes it easy to manage and effectively ensure the system is functioning as designed.
  • Granular levels of customization needed to detect unique corporate detection rules (beyond the standard level available).
  • Reporting options are limited.
  • Weight threshold would assist in modifying configuration for one-off instances rather than standard allow/encrypt rules.

Several factors were involved with our decision to purchase Zix including ease of use, configuration options, and cost. Although Zix provides a solid product offering, their support has been excellent when requested. The service allows our internal employees to secure all communications with external sources through a convenient manner. This along with multiple recommendations solidified our decision to make this change.
Zix works well in preventing data loss as it relates to standard compliance regulation rules. Customized rules are limited which makes any configuration adjustments for managing email improperly encrypted difficult. As a hosted solution, the service works as designed with little intervention by IT staffing to maintain. Reporting can be challenging with search capabilities specific to those built in rules.

Using Zix Email Encryption (ZixEncrypt)

With both the Outlook plug-in as well as key word detection policies, Zix has made it very easy to manage and maintain our overall security posture. The service allows our employees the convenience and ease of corresponding through email while maintaining a secure communications channel throughout the course of the exchange.
