Convert is an invaluable tool for quickly implementing alternative pages, offers, and experiences with minimal to no dev assistance. The user-friendly Experience Report interface enables easy collaboration and data analysis within organizations. It is the go-to split testing platform for users on a budget or new to conversion optimization, providing consistent revenue growth for eCommerce companies. Convert is widely used across departments such as client services, engineering, marketing, and UX/UI to execute split tests, A/B tests, and multivariate tests for feature validation and improving Pirate growth metrics. Users appreciate how Convert streamlines website change management by ensuring only beneficial changes are implemented. CRO agencies rely on Convert Experiences to run A/B testing programs, optimizing conversions and revenue for eCommerce stores. The platform helps identify potential issues within the website's funnel and optimize conversion rates. Convert Experiments enables A/B testing of various elements like content and design, resulting in improved conversion rates. It is also praised for its seamless user experience and affordability. Convert.com caters to users of all levels, from novices to experienced conversion rate optimization developers, across various verticals. Three words: value for money. In a due diligence comparison, Convert Experiences came up more than twice less expensive than the nearest competitor, while offering more product features, better performance and a quick response time with support/sales agents that actually understand your questions and provide immediate solutions.

Convert Experiences sits in a niche of great products, against which it competes very well and remains held in high regard as it achieves pretty much everything that the bigger platforms put on the table but in a more cost-effective model. The reason we initially chose Convert.com is because we did some market research on behalf of a client using another CRO platform and found it had a great feature set that has stood the test of time and is one of our preferred and recommended CRO platforms.

Convert has the best JS code editor for advanced users (and developers). It doesn't have as great integration with GA as Google Optimize, but it also doesn't have a limit to 5 tests at one time. It's also much easier to use than Optimizely.

Although VWO is slightly cheaper it flickers quite a bit, hence why I originally looked into alternative software to use for A/B testing. VWO also has other features that could be useful, but they can be found in tools you may already be using, like Hotjar. Also, their support was lacking in comparison with Convert. Convert's support really helped you to dig into an issue and get it sorted.

Convert was selected based on price point, feature set, and UI/UX. All three are very friendly to new testers and small to mid-market size companies. Their UI and tool workflow is the best out of all of the non-enterprise solutions that I have tried. There is some small room for improvement, but that only really affects power users or tests that require significant coding/development work to execute.

There were a number of other tools I used. Specifically though: they expose the DMP features that some other companies price into oblivion and enterprise levels (if the other tools have them at all!)

I feel like I've gushed a lot about the DMP and power user features of Convert in other questions, so I'm going to leave things a little sparse here.

Convert is better vs. Optimizely and VWO for the following reasons:
  • Better pricing
  • Faster App - easier and quicker to create tests, less clunky but just as powerful as the others
  • Great integrations - works with both Mixpanel and Google Analytics, giving you a good view of test outcomes across your tech stack.
  • Doesn't appear to slow down sites as much as some of the alternatives.

The biggest point for Convert Experiences is definitely the price and the completeness of their packages. Their Magento plugin makes it great for running tests on ecommerce stores. One thing that's missing for me is deeper insights into revenue (something Optimizely does better) and lack of detailed segmentation (e.g. new vs. returning visitor) during and after reporting. Not a big deal, as both can be done in Google Analytics afterwards, but it would be nice to have this integrated.

Visual Website Optimizer's feature set is not as well suited to advanced experiments (it doesn't seem to allow direct editing of variation code). Optimizely is expensive and their agency plan requires a 12 month minimum contract. Support is not as great. Optimizely also does not support breaking down the test results into daily statistics which makes it hard to analyze.

We have not used both products for some time, so things may have changed.

While Optimizely is an amazing A/B testing tool, Convert has almost the exact same offerings but at a much lower cost. The customer and technical support are excellent as well, and Dennis's insights and strategy calls are very helpful.

Visual Website Optimizer costs too much and misses a lot of transactions due to third-party cookies. Optimizely flat out refused to support Shopify. They withdrew their app from the marketplace in 2014.
