Microsoft Defender for Cloud is a Cloud Security Posture Management (CSPM) and Cloud Workload Protection Platform (CWPP) for Azure, on-premises, and multicloud (Amazon AWS and Google GCP) resources.
Overall we are happy with what Acronis is offering us, both as a use and a Value Add Resellers. The fact that there is one portal to onboard customers and select services is exactly what we were looking for. Now we are working on the Multi Tenant version, so we can also White Label Acronis towards our customerbase. We have not yet found any scenario's where Acronis can not offer any benefits. We do hear that the pricing for the storage is often to high versus competition. This applies to the Acronis data center storage, yet also the structure of Workload/per TB combination towards other Cloud vendors. (mainly the 3 largest Hyper Scalers) Compared to other Cloud storage solutions, these cost should be lower, so it will be easier to explain to customers to come and join Acronis in the cloud, instead of doing local back-ups or use solutions like DropBox, BackBlaze, PureStorage, Wasabo Hot Cloud Storage, Cloudian and more.
If you need to proceed with pay as you go service then go ahead with Microsoft Defender for Cloud. This could be expensive in the long run but if the organization usage is slightly less than then this would suite the purpose. Also, it has the latest threat updates, so you're future proof in terms of potential treats.

'Regulatory Compliance' is definitely an area of improvement for MDC. The complex and high number of controls within a specific framework should allow a more helpful and detailed guidelines in order to tackle them.
The limitation of options in the incident management menu of MDC has proven to be a hassle while managing security alerts. For example, an analyst cannot even provide a comment about the actions taken on an incident.
There is a missing functionality of connecting other EDR or XDR solutions to MDC which I think should be there for a CSPM tool.
They recently raised the pricing for backup usage and our price has nearly doubled. It is still lower than some other vendors, but we might review other options before renewing next year.
It is a great product that integrates nicely when running an Azure platform and even multi-cloud environment. Not looking for point-solutions but a suite that answers most requirements. It is very comfortable being able to use KQL, workbooks and automation that is native to the azure platform

Can be slow to respond at times, but they will be able to help you get to a resolution fairly quickly. We have not com across an issue they were unable to fix. Have found that they will generally start by trying to send you links to KB articles, so if you need help directly, you can send KB's that you have looked at already to bypass the back and forth.

We used to use Symantec and McAfee. It's been mostly defenders since, gosh, the last eight to 10 years. So we're a small organization. We don't have a lot of folks, so single-painted glass is really important to be able to see the whole environment in a single place. And the Microsoft tooling gives us that.
It simplifies security management and saves time. I'm not sure, but I'm very confident it saved me a couple of paychecks by centralizing the data I need to secure the cloud environment.
I also utilize the inventory overview to monitor my team's activities and verify they are following internal regulations, as well as cost overruns.
