Alert Logic vs. Cisco TrustSec vs. RedSeal

If you have a web platform or any other exposed system, it's important to have an IDS in place. This can be difficult to do right, and if you're a smaller business, you can't have a team dedicated to managing security. Alert Logic takes that burden, makes sure it's working right, and allows your team to focus on your product. With that in mind, it's not a silver bullet, and I took off one point ONLY because I think it would be harder to justify in a large enterprise with a security team already in place. Maybe there's another product out there that'll solve that use case, but Alert Logic was perfect for our needs.

RedSeal is a great tool for audit and compliance. It can do configuration analysis, audit against "golden" configurations, and map a network with little user interaction. RedSeal is not great for an environment where a tool like this must be fully integrated into not only audit and compliance, but also into change management.

I've found Barkly to be much better than these products at protecting my systems. It does not require the horsepower that these do to run. It uses systems resources well. It protects well. It alerts and updates well. This is a good AV system to have on your endpoints and is a sound financial investment if you are looking to protect your assets from virus/malware/ransomware.

RedSeal outperforms both Skybox and Tufin in the area of audit and compliance and can work with aging firewall technologies (stateful firewalls) and network gear (routers and switches). It is better than Tufin in respect to next-generation firewall assessments but is behind Skybox in this area. RedSeal also lacks change management integration which both Skybox and Tufin have.
