AWS Backup vs. HYCU

Because it is a native AWS service, it integrates well with all AWS services. However, it lacks the ability to manage long-term archive backups.

The SQL database structure and application-consistent snapshots to local storage and recovery are very well done. The interface is nicely made and it is an intuitive design that needs very little training to use. The Restore from the Cloud function is cumbersome and slow, that could be improved by downloading and finding parts needed, instead of the entire backup media.

• Unable to organize folders. Maybe this is just something basic, but I was unable to move files around. I was doing everything manually, on the AWS site to no avail.

Very easy to use and is as plug and play as you can get. There are configuration options for multiple schemas that best fits your organization.

Very simple interface. Can learn it in a day. The instances where I needed a little hand holding, I just called support and they assisted immediately. That's the best of both worlds.

Support for AWS Backup is by Amazon itself so it is solid as always. If you have a business or higher level support plan you'll have no trouble getting engineers or other staff on the job to help you with whatever comes up.

I have had several requests, and issues with the rollout and deployment of HYCU in our production environment. The HYCU team of support and developers have met each issue with importance and some kind of resolution or explanation of help. They have been so supportive even in the not so easy ones. That says something for their product and team behind it.

Linode requires a minimum data purchase for their S3 storage solution. While the convenience of being able to mount the drive directly is great, it isn't the best for small amounts of data for our different customers. I initially tried there other backup solution but they couldn't guarantee where the data would be stored in relation to the server we were using. The risk being an incident in our near our server could result in the loss of our backup as well.

This fits Nutanix better than anything I have found. HYCU clearly focuses on personalized service. You can email, call or open a web ticketed, depending on your urgency.

• We let auditors access the dashboard to check backup status.

• Applications and files have a place in the cloud in case the need is there for other depts.
• Restoring across datacenters is possible with HYCU saving us time and money to do so.
