BlackBerry UEM vs. Panda Patch Management

BlackBerry UEM is well-suited if you are looking for an all-in-one mobile security management platform. From the initial rollout and install of the software onto a device, to the deactivation and removal off the network, it works well and is easy to maintain. The one area where it could still use improvement is working with iOS devices, due to the non-native app functionality.

Perfect for medium-to-large enterprises where endpoint management becomes complex, the tool helps maintain security and monitor issues detected on workstations and/or threats via the web, USB, etc. I do not recommend this tool for small businesses, however, due to its high annual licensing cost—an aspect of the product that could stand to be improved.

If given a choice, I would like to access office emails directly using Microsoft Exchange. Entering login passwords every five minutes seems painful and syncing of emails is not done in real time.

I believe the tool could be improved by adding additional features—particularly for operating system update management, such as the ability to create management groups—thereby centralizing all patch management in a single console and enhancing agility and security for workstations. It could also include a dashboard to notify users of new patches, centralize news about critical software patches, and so on.

If you have a serious issue with your on-premise installation, access to support can take a bit to get someone on the phone, and it can take some time to rectify, given the complexity of the software. In my experience, the support team does get you back up and running in critical scenarios, but you more than likely will be on some marathon calls, unless it is a very simple and known issue.

When I compared Black BerryUEM (formerly Good) with MaaS360 and AirWatch at the time, BlackBerry UEM (formerly Good) offered better integration into the network as well as better mobile clients to execute work. Access to 3rd party apps that can be used e.g., ability to synchronize and edit notes. This, however, may have changed in recent years.

Panda features a faster, more intuitive management console with settings that are easy for network administrators to understand, thereby enabling them to utilize the tool's full range of capabilities. Panda also consumes significantly less RAM, in contrast to the high memory usage associated with Trend on desktops.

• Possibility for missed emails or late replies over a period of time because the app does not automatically refresh on a normal schedule

• Avoid/reduce production stoppages due to station unavailability.
• Control internal web access, improving internet usage management.
• By anticipating shutdowns caused by threats, you are indirectly contributing to the company's ROI.
