Likelihood to Recommend Cap IQ is well suited for analyzing security pricing and valuation, tracking stock performance over time, looking up comparable transactions, and analyzing valuations on an industry basis. The service is also well suited for charting and data analysis purposes.
Read full review Terapeak makes sense for people looking to sell a lot of items or resellers. It does not make sense for people selling one-off items or individuals looking to simply spring clean. It is great for determining pricing, what to start auctions at, and figuring out a shipping/returns strategy (whether or not to offer free shipping, have the buyer pay shipping, and if you should have returns allowed.) I would not recommend it if you just want to move the item out of your house or if you do not care what price an item sells for.
Read full review Pros Plugins that change and analyze analysis improve it. Capital IQ is user-driven, unlike other market participants, which helps streamline the dashboard and acquire accurate data. Any report or analysis delivers the most in fewest words. In this data-driven world. Read full review Gives accurate comparable sold listings to determine pricing. Aggregates sales information well, so I do not need to scroll through pages of listings. Helps with determining shipping/whether to turn on free shipping or not. Helps with sourcing and deciding whether to pay up for certain items. Read full review Cons S&P Capital IQ's add-in slows down my Excel when I incorporate formulas into it. S&P Capital IQ's algorithms don't necessarily look in the footnotes of company filings, which can make for a less robust analysis of financials and multiples than desired. The user interface is not very user-friendly and thus makes maximizing the software's features difficult. It could be more intuitive to use and not so busy (e.g. not so many small icons on one web page). The S&P Capital IQ support team, however, is always available and very helpful. Read full review I wish I could use Terapeak outside of eBay. Why can't I use it with other platforms like Mercari, Poshmark, etc.? I don't like that I have to pay for this feature. Other selling platforms provide their sold information free of charge. It feels antiquated. I need to click through many menus and tabs to price items. I wish it would automatically move me through the pages, instead of making me fill out the information, then hit "next" or "enter." Read full review Likelihood to Renew [It's the] best ever.
Read full review Alternatives Considered We had Capital IQ in addition to Bloomberg. It was much easier for a new person to use Capital IQ than Bloomberg. The ease of use was a huge selling point for us. Yahoo finance on the other hand is free, but you cannot gather all the data you may need in one location like you can in Capital IQ.
Read full review Terapeak can't be beaten for selling on eBay, because it is part and parcel with eBay. For comparable listings on other sites, I prefer Sellhound and
Jungle Scout . I find that
Webgility and
Price2Spy are more helpful for SEO and getting to the top of Google's search results. I feel that I get more eyes on my products using other services when I am not specifically selling through eBay. But on eBay, Terapeak is the only service I will use.
Read full review Return on Investment We were a boutique investment bank, so it helped multiple people doing their job at the same time instead of waiting for a turn on the Bloomberg terminal. Brought more interactive reports in PDF format to the table. Saved some money, if I have to go basic. Read full review We have saved time by using Terapeak for pricing. We did not price our items up too much but made them competitive with the market. We made more money using Terapeak than we would have without it because we did not under-price items. Terapeak gave accurate comparable sold listings. One negative impact was simply the cost. It was about $20/month and was set up to auto-renew. We forgot to cancel our membership and accidentally paid for a service we weren't using. Read full review ScreenShots
