CaseWare vs. Exact Online

CaseWare Cloud has made it much easier to manage our practice. We use CaseWare Working Papers and the SmartSync Server for all our GIFI and Compilation engagements, and it has provided many efficiencies when working on these engagements. It has also proved to be very useful when tracking time and billing our personal tax clients. We are able to keep relevant info for all our clients under the entities section, which has allowed us to maintain a high level of client service. I would recommend CaseWare Cloud and Time to anyone looking for tools to help manage their practice.

If you are a big company and have an active accountant then this system can be for you, it has many options but you need dedication. But the price starts from €39 and then you are not there...Most of the time you need other options to make it complete. Like ERP functions + €199~ want to book hours? +€129. And this is all per month... It goes up so fast that it's not interesting for small companies. When there are better options on the market that are even free...

• Invoicing is very simple and highly customizable.
• CaseWare Time is easy to use and it is convenient to have the ability to set billing rates for individual staff and time codes.
• The memo section for entities allows us to include detailed notes and relevant info for clients in a space that is convenient to access.

• Complete pack with many options, use it as CRM, ERP or simply for your bookings.
• Many connections with external programs, webshops, etc.
• Automatic backups.

• Under the list of entities, it is not possible to show or search phone numbers. In order to do this, we had to manually move all of our client phone numbers from each entity to their corresponding contact. It would be much more convenient if there was a way to export phone numbers from entities to contacts, or if you could simply search phone numbers from the entities screen.

• Support... It's bad, and when you want to stop or step back it's near impossible.
• Price, they tend to increase it without warning, and with all the extras it goes up fast.
• If you wanna spend all your time in accounting buy Exact... It can be complex and many handlings needs to be done.

We researched similar products from Wolters Kluwer before making our purchase. We felt the features in CaseWare Cloud were better suited to our needs. Our previous experience with CaseWare and our desire to continue using CaseWare Working Papers is the main reason we made the decision to choose CaseWare Cloud.

I would not select Exact Online, but I can direct you to better options. Due to the high price, getting behind the competition and support I would suggest options like Zoho Books for you bookings, or CyberStockroom as ERP. And here in the Netherlands e-boekhouden.nl is a real nice, cheap, and fast working booking platform for the smaller companies.

• Negative: High costs and implement time turned 1 client in to the negative, and after 2 years of use wants to stop.
• Positive: Once an ERP connection is running you can automate a lot in the process.
