Usually, Meraki MV cost is quite high, so you need to deal with an experienced Cisco partner to make sure you're getting the greatest discounts you can have, especially for larger deployments. In opposite, in very small deals, Meraki MV can be an attractive solution based on price as you don't even need to buy a NVR. Just like with Meraki MR (access points), you can get great analytics info from the solution, and even more with some third party solutions on top of it. As you pay for a licence, Meraki has a evergreen model so make sure to always have the latest and greatest features.

They need to be powered where there is ethernet. This makes it hard for areas outside in larger fields and such (that are not tied to that). But for a hard-wired business, that wants to do away from home run copper back to the on-prem box, this is a great alternative.

Alternatives Considered
Cisco
While the Ubiquiti cameras perform similar functions, their systems do not have the same integration possibilities as the Cisco Meraki MV cameras. They were more flexible generally.

We looked at Meraki/Cisco cameras, as well as various on-prem servers. Nothing really stacked up when it came to features, cost, and ease of use. Meraki/Cisco came the closest but the licensing was not ideal.

Scalability

It would be very easy to configure a new camera at another location, as long as someone at that location can do the install. The camera can then be categorized in the console. Different video walls can be created so you can group the video feeds by site or department, etc
