Constructware (discontinued)

Constructware is well suited for many different types of projects in both real estate and infrastructure. However, it is now becoming outdated with the introduction of the BIM 360 platform. I think even Autodesk may plan to slowly stop rolling out subscriptions to Cnstructware since most of its functions are now getting added on to BIM 360.

Oracle Aconex

For outstanding project managing and operational assistance, Oracle Aconex is an incredible program. The budget that suits every project are met and followed. More so, Oracle Aconex takes the permits required, for instance, the insurance permit and the license tracking. The contractor management feature is also encoded on Oracle Aconex, making the investor and the contractor have the same objective.

  • Provenance. Keeps track of changes and the people/companies who made those changes.
  • Collaboration.
  • Work [is stored] in the cloud.

  • UI can be improved, as shown by improvements made in BIM 360.

Oracle Aconex

  • Interface needs work; graphically inelegant, somewhat non-intuitive.
  • Process controls could be better 'templated' for industry standards.
  • Dashboard/to do for project managers - it's still too hard to see who is slowing the project down.

We're delighted with Oracle Aconex's functionality, UX, capabilities, and feature offerings. The only thing that keeps us from giving it a perfect 10/10 is the price. There are other options out there that won't burn as deep of a hole in your pocket, but then again, you get what you pay for.

Oracle Aconex

Oracle Aconex seems to be tailored for our specific needs since it supports construction project information and all related type of data. It is secure and compliant which makes it crucial for real-time collaboration and control of job site processes. Other platforms that we have evaluated are still well designed, but much more generic which is not favourable for our engineering projects.
