Cyberoam

Our organization found that Cyberoam is a cost-effective solution compared to other vendors. Cyberoam was having issues with SSO for Web Filtering. For, web filtering and application blocking, Cyberoam does not contain enough signatures or data so we can not achieve the goal of all of the sites that need to be blocked. Cyberoam is great because of its ease of use feature.

WatchGuard Technologies

WatchGuard Network Security firewalls are very suited for when you need a stateful firewall and use its additional security features (UTM) like Webblocker, APT, Anti-malware, HTTPS DPI, and client en branch office VPN. The way WatchGuard Network Security firewalls are managed makes it very easy to get an overview of the policies and easy to understand. It's not complex where it does not have to be while still offering advanced features where needed. WatchGuard Network Security firewalls, like other 'UTM' layer 7 firewalls, are not worth their money if they are only used as a router. In some scenarios, a (Cisco) router or Layer 3 switch would make more sense. This is true for most technologies; there is no "one solution fits all." If you need (fast) internal routing and only require basic ACL, a layer 3 switch that does stateless inspection is more suited. For connecting remote offices, WatchGuard Network Security firewalls make setting up VPNs easy, but if all they do is full tunneling and routing, a dedicated router should also be considered for value.

WatchGuard Technologies

  • Intuitive and easy to use management of firebox devices, tasks that can be overly complicated with other vendors are simple and easy to manage with Watchguards
  • Quiet and efficient network devices for small businesses. The T range of fireboxes is perfectly suited for small businesses providing a secure experience in a neat package.
  • Watchguard fireboxes provide a seamless experience across the whole range meaning you can create a policy on a smaller Tbox and then if you decide to upgrade the policy and settings can be seamlessly imported into a larger model.

Cons

Cyberoam

  • Without mentioning an alternative brand, there is another leading company who has updated with firewall UI quite a bit. They offer an expanded line-up to meet a wider array of needs including specific appliances for web caching, proxy servers, and other products that have the same and familiar UI across the products. Each of the products does have some overlap so that customers can choose the right appliance for their use case.
  • After being acquired by Sophos, we saw our year-over-year costs escalate significantly since our original maintenance contract. They should consider revisiting the pricing, especially for education.
  • They should consider a current market analysis and see how the market is changing and adapting with other lower cost appliances for their product line up.

  • It would be nice to have a fully functional web interface [for the] server manager. The server manager is often very slow over remote connections.
  • Better support for OpenVPN server, or at least an easier way of creating tunnels using OpenVPN.
  • user VPN user management is a little confusing until you understand that all users need to be created under SSL users, regardless of VPN type.
  • Would be nice to have traffic statistics on traffic management objects.

I'm giving this note to WatchGuard Network Security due to its ease of daily support (after acquiring necessary knowledge in the solution), which allows agility in configuration changes, its integration of several reliable security features (such as SSL VPN, VPN Virtual Interfaces between companies, and others) and functional and stability in operation, with no downtime in the equipment due to problems or malfunctions

    As a network
security architect, it is my job to design NIST SP-800 cybersecurity framework
hardened network layer security solutions. These strategies are combined with a
comprehensive cybersecurity kill chain plan inclusive of email, network, phone,
printer, cloud, server, and endpoint layered defense strategies.

    As part of the
design decision, technologies that consistently have extremely high efficacy
while having a low TCO are absolutely essential for this solution to be
manageable, effective, and affordable. WatchGuard has been our choice for
network layer protection for more than 10 years. We also use their endpoint
protection agent technologies and authentication solutions.

    In doing so, we have
been able to deliver high levels of security effectiveness at an affordable
price to organizations ranging from one user to 500 users.

Super easy. Following Documentation made it so much easier. If you come across any issue, their support is fast and super knowledgeable. They are some of the most helpful people I have dealt with in the support industry. Lastly, ensuring that you are able to get to all of the devices on your network makes the deployment much better.

    Cyberoam

The main factor is cost, as we are a startup organization. That's the main reason we choose Cyberoam stacks up against other network security services.

    WatchGuard Technologies

WatchGuard was selected due to product familiarity; their free training courses mean we have all our technicians qualified in their use. Support has always been top-notch. And security is their focus; there's no trying to sell additional HW or add-ons. Although somewhat from experience, we find WG devices simpler and easier to configure with no jumping through hoops or multiple pages for basic configuration tasks, and when things aren't working, the comprehensive logging and reporting tools allow quick identification of the cause.
