WatchGuard Network Security is a network security and firewall software. WatchGuard includes secure Wi-Fi, multi-factor authentication, and network intelligence products and services designed for SMB’s.https://media.trustradius.com/product-logos/5W/jq/VAPTVJ0UKFRX.JPEGWatchguard Security as MSP solutionCurrently, we utilize WatchGuard Network Security as the key component for both of our offices. We also resell and recommend WatchGuard to our clients and support approximately 50-60 deployed scenarios as the solution for network protection and security, through hardware and the integrated security such as DPI, AV, Webblocking and so much more.,URL Filtering: Extremely effective for blocking of questionable content and protecting from phishing sites. Antivirus: Our clients have seen far fewer active threats when a WatchGuard Network Security Device is in place. Data Loss Prevention: A valuable tool for our clients who require more security when it comes to metadata and personal data leaving the network.,It would be great to have a migration tool to HELP between competitor products to attempt to migrate a configuration so that time and client money is saved when moving into a WatchGuard Network Security deployment. Remote deployment is inconsistent i.e. setting a configuration ahead of time for the device to implement when it powers on and dials home. Would like to see this developed more and with more capability for complexity.,10,WatchGuard Network Security has had a significant ROI for our business strategy as a whole. The products are reliable and solid which leads to less compromised clients leaving us more time to work on future growth with those clients rather than constantly being reactive. Using WatchGuard Network Security as our primary option for clients means a greater knowledge and comfort level of the product for my staff and less time spent cross-training with different vendors, meaning my staff stays far more productive overall.,We are a WatchGuard Network Security partner.,9,10,Simplified licensing has made a complete business case for WatchGuard Network Security products for us. We utilize this strategically in our discussion with clients as to their motivation to transition from their existing solutions and have been very successful helping them realize the business and financial case for themselves.,WatchGuard Network Security offers worry-free setup, protection, and management of critical networks. We utilize WatchGuard equipment and their Security Suites in our main office, as well as deploying it on-site for all of our IT customers. Our primary role is working with criminal justice agencies, and WatchGuard products serve many of the appropriate needs. Their firewalls are FIPS 140-2 compliant and offer a full range of services that will maintain compliance with federal CJIS and state policies regarding the access and transmission of criminal justice information (CJI). Their assortment of proxy policies and security services ensure that our criminal justice networks are safe, secure, and controlled. They utilize multiple layers of threat detection to protect their critical/sensitive data. And with many criminal justice networks requiring two-factor authentication for mobile devices, WatchGuard now offers their integrated AuthPoint service, which can easily provide this service to agencies without requiring them to invest in third-party tokens/services to make it happen.,WatchGuard AuthPoint allows CJIS-compliant MFA for mobile devices. Layered security services can easily block threats from several different angles. Easy-to-use system manager makes building policies and interpreting them very easy.,WatchGuard Cloud features have room to grow. I would love to see it fully replace the need for Dimension or WatchGuard Server Manager. AuthPoint support for third-party tokens (for agencies that already own them) would be a nice addition.,10,Compliance with federal and state regulations for the transmission of CJI. Ability to centrally manage almost 50 sites with ease. Worry-free security for criminal justice agencies.,8,9,It's a very straight-forward process. I can get a device into my customer's hands with a Total Security Suite already attached, which can be good for 3-years running. Nothing to worry about or manage. And once the time to renew comes up, a notification comes through a number of channels (including WatchGuard Cloud, notifications on Firebox System Manager, and email from partner channel managers as well), to ensure that license renewal is easy. Once a renewal is purchased, it is simply applied to the device in the WatchGuard account, which is literally a copy/paste maneuver, and everything is handled.,SonicWall NSA Series and SonicWall TZ10+ yrs experience with hundreds of Fireboxes, WatchGuard reviewAs a network security architect, it is my job to design NIST SP-800 cybersecurity framework hardened network layer security solutions. These strategies are combined with a comprehensive cybersecurity kill chain plan inclusive of email, network, phone, printer, cloud, server, and endpoint layered defense strategies. As part of the design decision, technologies that consistently have extremely high efficacy while having a low TCO are absolutely essential for this solution to be manageable, effective, and affordable. WatchGuard has been our choice for network layer protection for more than 10 years. We also use their endpoint protection agent technologies and authentication solutions. In doing so, we have been able to deliver high levels of security effectiveness at an affordable price to organizations ranging from one user to 500 users.,WatchGuard System Manager and centralized management is the key to low TCO Security solution efficacy is critical. A solution that is only 95% effective is not good enough. Partner support is good and enables us to be able to deliver quality solutions that are consistently functional Partner enablement. WG focuses on the channel as they know that the skill of the integrators is what makes the difference between a default appliance and an effective security solution,Partner communications on technical issues. For example the undocumented feature of SDWAN hidden route. There is still no documentation on that. Too infrequent communications about high incidence technical support issues. We do not want to have to be encountering known issues and then having outages or problems that we then have to put in tickets about. Pay attention to your most highly technical partners, not just those that sell a lot of equipment. The highly technical partners can and do provide very usable feedback that can make the products better. WG wants partners to build relationships with people inside WG so we can drive solutions to problems, but too frequently, we get no response to emails sent to the proper internal resources about legitimate issues.,10,Our business is very WatchGuard-centric and we value our relationship with WatchGuard more than any other manufacturer Fireboxes comprise the CORE of everything we do in terms of network layer security. So you literally cannot do a secure environment without a Firebox. Therefore, nearly every single client we have or ever have had has Fireboxes. We have been able to consistently prove value by our network layer security techniques we implement on Fireboxes. We are able to have a viable SIEM logging solution and security incident alarm notifications because of Dimension. Many of our largest and most valuable customers have come to use through WatchGuard partner finder WatchGuard has sometimes very poorly executed aspects of their marketing plans or technologies that have cost us business. For example, they solicited our customers on behalf of competitors repeatedly. WG's wireless technologies were very poorly executed during the controller to wifi cloud transition period for about a couple years. This caused us major problems which caused us to walk away from WG wireless for that time.,We are the WatchGuard network security partner.,10,Consolidated security services in two major service package flavors does provide simplified solutions offering. This model has worked well. Please continue with that.,SonicWall NSA Series, NETGEAR Insight Instant VPN Routers, Cisco 3504 WLAN Controller, Cisco ASA and Fortinet FortiGate,5,5,Fireboxes ARE the network Fireboxes provide all the hardcore network layer security we need WatchGuard technologies represent a comprehensive ecosystem for network layer security, visibility, awareness and monitoring,We were one of the first organizations to use autoblocking technologies. We have been using that innovation successfully since 2009. We are one of the only WatchGuard partners in the entire world that successfully uses Fireboxes for hardened network layer security microsegmentation and intra-VLAN packet inspection which creates a network security layer at the endpoint level We use real time alerting for all network layer security type issues that we think we should know about in real time. As such, we can offer clients a security operations center type of service. We review all network security reports for all client sites weekly and are able to identify trends, areas for further investigation, or areas of configuration changing,For any prospects that contact us, we will use WatchGuard solutions to provide them the most security effective and cost effective cybersecurity kill chain solutions available in the SMB space. We plan on using DNSWatchGo and the Access Portal technologies more. We plan on using WatchGuard's MFA solution AuthPoint more than we are using it now. We also think that WatchGuard has worked out the bugs in their Wifi Cloud solution and it is now a mature product worth adopting.,10,Trend Micro Cloud App Security, Trend Micro Smart Protection Suite, with XGen, Trend Micro Mobile Security, Trend Micro Worry-Free Business Security, Microsoft Office 365, ASG-Remote Desktop, Self Service Reset Password Management, Acronis Backup, Kaseya Virtual System Administrator (VSA), 3CX Phone System, Yubico,Yes,Price Product Features Product Usability,I would have stopped wasting my time reviewing other manufacturer's products.,Third-party professional services,Yes,Change management was a major issue with the implementation,Educating users and executive management that network layer security is an absolute necessity Educating users and executive management that whitelisting websites that they want to access is not only unnecessary but an incorrect security approach Educating users and executive management that the Firebox and our security is not the problem. In many cases, the website developers of websites that they access are not maintaining secure website hosting or they are simply utilizing insecure methodologies. And that is the true source of the issues.,Online training In-person training Self-taught,10,7,After 15+ years of experience with Fireboxes and having successfully trained 10 engineers to be successful supporting and managing Fireboxes, the only way to correctly and adequately learn Fireboxes or any other network security appliance is very heavy experiential effort. You must read the training manuals for Fireboxes, but you must also then spend a very significant amount of time with ANY network security appliance in order to be able to correctly and thoroughly use the solution for security efficacy. Very few people are going to have the skill to organically develop network security strategy on their own. Therefore they should partner with a highly qualified WatchGuard partner and then spend the time to learn how to use the product in order to maintain the security solution and strategy that their partner has implemented. It is actually better if managing network layer security is outsourced to a managed security services provider.,Yes,Yes,Because of the quality of our skills as a top tier WatchGuard partner, we are able to have highly sophisticated and valuable interactions with WatchGuard top tier support. In the last few years, WatchGuard has really dramatically increased the skill of their support technicians at all levels. Part of it is due to the high quality of their internal training and the skill of their internal trainers. Part of it is due to a concerted effort by support executive management Shari McLaren to improve support. They have succeeded. As long as we are asking questions of WatchGuard partner support that is within the scope of what is appropriate to ask them about, we are always able to have more than adequately sophisticated conversations about whatever the technical problem is. This results in problems being solved. Literally, in 25 years of being in the IT industry, I have not had this experience with any other manufacturer of software or hardware.,10,Firebox System Manager and Firebox Policy Manager are the essence of effective troubleshooting, monitoring, configuration auditing, and configuration management. 98% of breaches occur due to a misconfiguration. Firebox Policy Manager, in the hands of a skilled network security architect can reveal network layer security misconfigurations faster than any other solution on the market. As such, it also eliminates network layer security misconfigurations. Dimension is an excellent visibility product WatchGuard's network discovery product is extremely helpful and easy to use,There are areas of Policy Manager where no import/export or reordering function is available. This feature has been requested for years, but WatchGuard has not invested effort into improving Policy Manager. They are trying to move to WatchGuard Cloud. Unless they provide feature parity at least, then WatchGuard Cloud will never be able to replace WSM.,Yes, but I don't use itWatchGuard makes managing complex security solutions easy!We use WatchGuard firewalls across the entire organization for all of our clients as a tool in troubleshooting but also much much more. Their Traffic Monitor tool shows real-time network traffic to help us troubleshoot connectivity, security threats, and do general monitoring. I can search in real-time the logs for username, IP address, ports, or even websites. It also shows allowed, blocked or dropped packets in real-time. No more packet captures! This is just one of their amazing tools built into their Total Security Suite stack. Another great tool for us is DNS Watch which checks DNS queries to block malicious sites and redirects those users to educational videos. DNS Watch solves the problem of users clicking on things they shouldn't and also saves us time on not having to educate the end-users on security best practices. Easy of use and their amazing tech support is the icing on the cake. I can't tell you how many times I get into other firewalls and had to dig and dig to find a setting or re-engineer the wheel to fix something simple. Everything is where it intuitively should be in my humble opinion and also their tech support rocks!,Layer Security Stack World Class Amazing Tech Support Complex Solutions made to be easily managed,The ability to add identification of applications through some type of submission process on the Application Control feature.,10,Blocking bad websites has saved many of our clients from any infection which saves time and money from a business being down and needing files restored perspective. Automatic end user training has saved time not having to go onsite to do it ourselves. Traffic and Security Reports that we use with clients to show them employee usage, blocked security threats, and growth projections.,We at Echopath are Gold Partners and implement many WatchGuard products for our clients. I rarely have had to use WatchGuard support for implementations because of their great training materials, support documentation, and ease of use for their products.,10,10,Actually, there are 2. Basic and total security suites. They both are good stacks depending on what client and their environment. Some just need basic protection and other clients need more reporting, HIPAA/PCI compliance, DNS filtering, etc. With having 2 options some companies don't want to pay for things they don't need and other companies will pay for the extra security so again just depends on the environment. I will say WatchGuard has made it as simple as it can be to make that choice.,Cisco ASA, Cisco Meraki MX Firewalls, SonicWall TZ, Fortinet FortiGate and pfSenseWatchGuard has my back!It is currently being used across the entire organization. We have the reporting feature that is set up. We also have the policies on the firewall set up. The business problem that it addresses is making sure that our network is safe and secure. We have reporting to verify what is happening in our network. Also, it can limit the network bandwidth per user as well as show where users transverse on the network and in the Internet. That way we can do things like be proactive with helping them if they click on the wrong websites that might exploit their computer.,Their training is phenomenal. The support for their partners is excellent. One of the best companies that I've been involved with to support us. The product is amazing. I've been a partner with other security companies and by far WatchGuard has excellent technology and it's easy to use. But not only is it easy to use but it makes sense when you configure it. Their customer service team is awesome. I recently have to call in and everyone was very professional and very friendly.,The training is great. I know they are updating their training videos. I did like how the networking certification had videos that were broken up and condensed into a smaller video instead of a large one. The wireless training had long videos and if it was broken up it would have been easier. Having the coursework ready for the certification. For the training certifications to have the video easier to rewind 10 seconds back or 15 seconds back. Right now there is no button that allows us to rewind the video in that fashion.,10,In the future it will provide us a better way to give better value to our customers through the reporting feature. We will be able to provide better security and support for customers. Since WatchGuard has such great training we will also be much more knowledgeable and provide again better customer service and support to our customers. The product is easy to use and easy to understand which in turn allows us to provide better support.,We are currently a security partner and are happy to be a security partner with WatchGuard.,10,10,It definitely has benefited our organization. Having everything bundled together makes it so much easier. Especially the reporting and management capabilities are by far very excellent.,SonicWall Capture Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) and SonicWall Capture Security CenterWatchGuard - the Linus security blanket you always wanted - and need.We use WatchGuard Network Security both internally and for corporate clients. The range of security services, product range, configuration flexibility and ROI makes WatchGuard an outstanding choice.,Sufficient product range for SMB through large Gov't / Corporate Easy to configure and maintain, reasonable ongoing subscription costs with flexible support options Product availability - in stock or withing days for delivery Top tier support when you need them.,Built in wireless devices have occasionally been problematic (ex T35-W series) # 1 would be the ability to copy a base configuration easily from one device to another (policies) Would like to see technical re write exams elongated, three years currently is just to short - min 5 yr would be reasonable, with all the certifications by other vendors this places undue/un-needed burden on the reseller. demand upkeep webinars instead.,9,Provides clients with a sense of high security and knowledge feeling they are better protected Recurring revenue from subscriptions has added to the bottom line (roughly a 5% bump) Providing support for a single quality product (long term brand loyalty) adds value for ease of use and training from a technical standpoint, low learning curve Having a range of products allows us to match client need and budget without moving brands,We are a partner,8,8,Current packaging is easy to understand and price. Some vendors offer so many minor options it becomes a messy confusing way to purchase and often leads to mistakes. WatchGuard has the basic and total security licensing for all devices, perhaps adding a third to stretch out the current "buy it all or just get the minimum" would be an idea.,Cisco Meraki MX FirewallsWatchGuard ReviewWe are using it currently in our own organization as our primary firewall, wireless, and VPN solution. We are also using them for some of our clients with managed services.,Enterprise level security. Price-point accommodating for small to medium-sized businesses. Ability to have integrated 2-factor authentication platform.,More traditional-style ACL list for firewall rules.,10,A very positive return on investment as we are providing more and more managed security services, and their products fit in well with our framework.,We are a WatchGuard Partner ourselves.,10,7,The licensing makes it simple, and you know ahead of time what you are paying for.,Cisco ASA and Fortinet FortiGateWatchGuard Firebox's Single Pane of Glass Dashboard Improves Perimeter Protectioni3 Business Solutions is a technology managed services and security provider in West Michigan. We are a WatchGuard partner using the WatchGuard Dimension Dashboard to monitor or manage over 100 Fireboxes for our clients. The Dimension Dashboard single pane of glass allows us to improve and tighten cybersecurity for clients in a standardized, consistent, and efficient manner.,The WatchGuard Firebox flags and prevents bot attempts on clients' network. The WatchGuard Firebox provides layers of protection using best of breed partners to protect clients perimeter. The WatchGuard Firebox can be centrally managed on a single pane of glass or dashboard allowing for centralized and efficient updating of security profiles.,With the proliferation of IoT and VoIP, managing network traffic priority and access can be a challenge due to the WatchGuard Firebox' tight security.,10,The WatchGuard Firebox Dimension Dashboard provides i3 Business Solutions centralized and immediate access to monitor and manage UTM - Firewall protection for our clients. The WatchGuard Firebox standardization and selection allows i3 to have multiple UTM - Firewall specialists as opposed to a single specialized tech.,i3 Business Solutions is a WatchGuard Firebox partner and specialist.,10,10,The WatchGuard Firebox bundling of best of breed applications and licenses allows for simplified threat protection execution.,Fortinet FortiGate and Cisco ASAWhy WG and Me?We are a reseller and we use it as our first line firewall in all our clients as a security and firewall/router.,Very intuitive GUI. Dimension server for managing the client's activities and logs is simple and responsive. WatchGuard support both from a re-seller information perspective and from a technical support perspective. We, as Advanced Office Solutions, feel very well supported.,Although Dimension Server is great, it is simple. More reporting, more in-depth capabilities, and functions would be helpful. Added trouble reports that are automated and sent to the support agent as an example.,8,In using WG as our first line and with the support that we have been getting, we have seen overall better security coverage and huge peace of mind with our technicians and our clients alike. Saving time and money on both sides of the business to allow for that device to do the job it was designed to do and trust that it is accountable to doing it as well.,We worked directly with WatchGuard and our dedicated rep and his technical team. Developing strategies for different configs on 10 or more sites, some multi up to 250plus users to as small as 5 users. Great experience and again feel well supported.,8,8,Simple is great because a ton of manufacturers of technology try to layer and layer and layer. This complicates our client solution cycles, it makes for lots of questions and having to justify all these costs. WG does an amazing job of keeping it simple and robust.,Sophos SG Firewall Appliances, NETGEAR Insight Instant VPN Routers and pfSenseSimple firewall for small and medium businessesWe use WatchGuard Network Security as our firewall solution for our entire company. We have one in each of our geographic regions to allow/restrict access to the internet and other internal networks. We also use WatchGuard access points for our wireless network throughout our organization as well.,It is easy to set up and restore from a backup if needed The web interface for the firewall is easy to navigate and use Customer support has always been helpful and quick to respond when I needed them,Can't think of any time where there was functionality that was not there.,10,In both of our locations, we have had these firewalls for about 5 years now and neither of them are showing any signs of failing.,These firewalls where in place before I started this position. I am unsure what partner we worked with.,10,10,I believe that using the simplified licensing helps smaller companies by keeping the overall costs down and not prohibiting the use of more advanced protection features that are offered.,Palo Alto Networks Threat Protection and Cisco ASALong Time WatchGuard User- Great ProductWe use WatchGuard at about 10 sites in our organization. The product allows to easily manage VPN's between sites. It also allows us to manage traffic via WebBlocker and other features. We have found the products to be very reliable as well as cost effective. I've also used the product in the past as an independent consultant with clients in multiple industries.,Reliable Hardware Easy to configure Robust Security,Better training on new features Faster response to technical issues More granular license upgrades,10,Greatly decreased malware penetration Rapid VPN deployment Peace of mind,I have worked with Dell in the past. I currently work with PC Connection. I have been satisfied with the services of both.,10,10,I am satisfied with the current license model. I think being able to chose the individual security modules may result in cost savings for our organization. With the advent of Office 365 and other hosted Exchange services, modules like Spam Filter are not needed.,Cisco ASAWhy WatchGuard? Because.......We deploy WatchGaurd solutions to many of the customers we manage and monitor, from end to end, for their network infrastructure. The single-pane glass of management via the web portal is a priceless feature, which makes troubleshooting issues a lot easier.,Ease of configuration. Ease of deployment. Ease of management.,It would nice to have CLI access through the web GUI.,9,I have nothing negative to state regarding the use of WatchGuard solutions. The initial investment in the solution is minimal, compared to the time and money you save when troubleshooting an issue and getting support from Tech support.,We worked with our local Sales and Technical folks assigned to our company. We are very happy with the constant communication and initiative to get involved with the deals we present to them.,9,10,I have to say that WatchGuard licensing is the easiest to understand and deploy compared to other vendors.,Fortinet FortiGate and Cisco ASAWatch over me- Multiple SMB's. We recommend, manage, and install security (and other) solutions for businesses throughout Western Canada. - WatchGuard security addresses the current Canadian Federal Government standards for businesses that handle personal client information.,Intrusion Detection: Cloud-based and very responsive. It helps stop malicious activity from getting within the small business Local Area Networks. Intrusion Prevention: TDR is a very advanced prevention system that I have not seen an equivalent for with any other vendor. Dimension-based BoVPN: it's very easy to configure, set up, and monitor.,Dimension needs to include features that were available in the Management server! The Access Points need to have the ability to manage from the command line (for instance, in the event of firmware update failure from cloud management). When there is an issue with a Firebox update, better communication of that issue would be appreciated (i.e. v12.4 had some issues with Policies not working properly, and we only found this out when experiencing the issue and opening a Case for it).,8,The overall cost of owning a device has been hard to justify to small businesses. The TAG "security as a service" program has been beneficial to recommending and implementing WatchGuard Network Security. This has definitely had a positive impact.,We work with WatchGuard direct for implementation. We work with TAG for purchases. The overall service from WatchGuard has been very good.,8,9,Simplified. Managing different licensing is complex, and expirations are often overlooked. Also, the TAG "Security as a Service" simplifies it even further, since the licensing is included with the monthly cost and only has to be initially activated.,Untangle NG Firewall, SonicWall TZ, Cisco ASA and Cisco Meraki MX FirewallsWatchGuard ReviewAs an IT consultant for many organizations, deploying WatchGuard gives me the centralized control, access and reporting I need to keep my clients as secure as possible. Dimension Control allows me to centrally control all of my clients border protection devices while also providing me a global view of each endpoint through TDR and Authpoint. Their MSP tools are improving on each release.,Centralized management of the entire WatchGuard infrastructure through Dimension control and reporting. Integration of two-factor authentication for both domain and VPN logins. WatchGuard technical support has always been a key point in using their devices.,Collective MSP reporting for clients has always been an issue. A more generalized view of an end-user's activity is often called for by my clients for a given end-user. A report that has the ability to remove "background traffic" like Windows updates. My clients would like to see a report along the lines of "user a was on facebook.com for 88 minutes, Spotify for 90" etc... On initial deployment, the free-ware based wireless access points were problematic to the point we threw them away in lieu of another product. To this day, my clients do not want to use/trust WatchGuard wireless AP's. Tying a license to an AP, like Cisco, is why they will never be deployed. The ones in place work, don't need to be reset, and don't have a license tied to them for all of the services offered.,10,WatchGuard has always been a positive ROI for us.,We are the WatchGuard partner.,10,10,We benefit from the services bundled in the total security package. We would benefit if each service was offered (and it is) as a separate package as we would simply buy them all. Having them bundled helps.,Seattle Computing, WatchGuard Technologies, PNW Originals! We are a Managed IT Services Company in Seattle Washington, and deploy WatchGuard hardware and software across every one of our client networks. WatchGuard firewalls provide network security protection, along with a wide range of security software which can be customized and configured based on the client's specific security needs. WatchGuard Basic and Complete Security suites address security concerns from web content filtering to threat detection and response.,Easily deploy devices with standardized security configurations. Track all managed devices through a centralized portal. Training and product knowledge is easily accessible. Product support and local resources at our fingertips.,Moving WatchGuard System Manager to a cloud based portal. More options for non-hardware based solutions.,8,Reducing our client's security risks decreases our exposure as a consulting and management firm. Being part of WatchGuard's partner program, and taking advantage of incentives increases our profitability. Using the WatchGuard suite of products as our security platform provides our clients with piece of mind and confidence.,We purchase all WatchGuard products through Ingram Micro. Ingram Micro is a reputable distributor, Seattle Computing has enjoyed a long and successful relationship with them. We are a WatchGuard Security Partner and work with many clients deploying and implementing WatchGuard firewalls and software.,8,8,WatchGuard has simplified licensing over the years. Simplification has made selling the solution more straight forward. We were concerned about only having two security suite options, but so far it has not been a problem. Often the Basic Security suite meets all of our small business client needs. It is very clear when a client needs the Total Security package, and the value is always clear.,FortiNAC, Ubiquiti WLAN and SonicWall NSA SeriesWatchGuard Simplifies Network SecurityWe utilize WatchGuard's Total Security Suite (TSS) to protect our networks from all current threats. We use WatchGuard firewalls with TSS across our entire organization with all protection features enabled, including Reputation Enabled Defense, Threat Detection and Response, Geolocation filtering, web blocking with content filtering, and a nice, new feature known as DNS Watch.,Threat Detection and Response to defend against active malware and viruses as well as zero-day threat protection. Web blocking with content filtering is used to prevent employees from going to websites where they will be less productive. DNS Watch is used to prevent employees from accidentally going to websites that could insert a virus onto their computer.,I can't think of any at this time.,10,We have experienced no viruses or malware on our networks since implementing the WatchGuard solutions.,We worked with WatchGuard support directly on purchase and implementation Stellar support all around.,10,10,We like the all-in-one packaging. The only options are whether to go with their basic Live Security service, Basic Security Service (BSS) or Total Security Service (TSS). The TSS options packages all of the security benefits provided by WatchGuard, along with integrated reporting and monitoring, keeping our budget simple, which is outstanding!,SonicWall E10000 SeriesWatchGuard allows us to sleep at night knowing we have best inbreed solution in place.WatchGuard Network Security is used organization-wide for approximately 200 users. Also using the Mobile User VPN and APT Blocker functionality. Utilizing the Dimension reports help use identify trends and user use behavior patterns.,Easy to implement. Easy to manage. Very reliable. Great back end portal. Great support.,Better API capabilities to Solar Winds Managed Services.,10,WatchGuard offerings align nicely to our business and compliments our product and services catalog. It would be nicer to have higher margins on the renewals. Love the Red for Red Trade Up options. Keeps us and WatchGuard relevant with our clients over the years.,MicroAge Technical Services.,10,10,We are all looking for the lowest cost of ownership and WatchGuard solutions deliver this for us over and over.,Fortinet FortiGatePerfect price point and feature set for any SMBWe utilize WatchGuard across our entire organization to protect our own infrastructure, as well as client, hosted infrastructure. The problems resolved by WatchGuard for us have mainly been high security related issues such as gateway antivirus, spam filter, geolocation and many other security holes that our businesses fave. WatchGuard allows us to provide security at an affordable price.,Timely updates. Threat detection. Customer service.,The desktop client needs a face lift. Logging is a pain to configure. I’d like to see more price points in between products.,10,Positive in that we see much less threats in our network.,We resell and work directly with WatchGuard and our reseller. I will not give out which reseller we use.,9,10,No insight,SonicWall Capture Security CenterSecurity = WatchGuardOur WatchGuard Firewall is used by our entire organization. It addresses problems such as: protection from intrusive and destructive viruses, protecting our files from Crypto Locker, allowing us to Geo Block countries that are known virus factories. It also allows us to remote in to some of our customers and help them remotely with PC issues.,Virus Blocking Spam Blocking Geo Filtering,Cost Version of their Firewall for Home Use,9,Protection from Crypto Locker Viruses Geo Filtering out known virus factory countries,We work with Interwork Technologies for all our WatchGuard purchases. I couldn't be happier with them and their staff, they are very attentive and knowledgeable.,9,9,The licensing is very simple to understand and they have 3 tiers for you to choose from. Standard support basically just covers warranty issues so we don't choose that. We go for the Basic Security Suite which covers most everything we need. They also offer a trade up program so we can get the latest hardware for free by only paying for a new subscription.WatchGuard is a hidden jewelWe offer the products to our customers as well as use them internally.,Provides enterprise functionality for mid-market companies. Great price performance. Redundancy is a no brainer to acquire.,More pro-active communications specific to minor issues.,9,Very favorable.,We are a partner so this question doesn't apply.,8,,it makes it very appealing and cost-effective for the small to mid-market client.,Fortinet FortiGateA WatchGuard Gold Partner's Praise! We are an MSP, and we use WatchGuard equipment for our internal network and for our data center facilities. In addition, we specify WatchGuard as our first choice and recommendation for all client implementations or replacements.,Sales assistance. Pre-sales support. Reliability.,Technical support is substandard. The response times are WAY too long and unacceptable, even though the expertise, once we get a response, is quite good.,8,WatchGuard has had a positive effect on profitability and in making our clients' network environments more secure and hacker-resistant.,We are a gold partner.,8,,Ease of implementation and management, enhanced appeal for clients ("all included").,SonicWall TZWatchGuard... The Good, The Bad, and the Cool Little Red Boxes! We use a WatchGuard M500 at our corporate office. We use M370s at two of our branch offices where we keep our phone and backup servers. We use T35s at 12 branch offices, and we use XTM25s at the remaining 5 branch offices. We upgrade and renew in groups, to keep from getting billed for 20 devices at one time. So the biggest challenge is keeping up with renewing subscriptions on which device, and applying the right feature key to the right device.,Support is handled particularly well, they are always polite and helpful. They make sure you are happy with the resolution. What helps me the most is you can schedule a time for support to call. I can plan to be at one of our field offices at a certain time and schedule support to call me at that time. instead of me calling them and waiting on hold until a technician is freed up. Webblocker helps me save time blocking undesirable sites with an easy to configure list. Together with Spam blocker and Gateway Anti Virus along with there other apps, WatchGuard helps keep my users safe whether at Corporate headquarters or in a branch office.,Feature Keys and the renewing process is bulky and worrisome, especially for 20 or more boxes. Currently, we utilize WatchGuard Network Security as the key component for both of our offices. We also resell and recommend WatchGuard to our clients and support approximately 50-60 deployed scenarios as the solution for network protection and security, through hardware and the integrated security such as DPI, AV, Webblocking and so much more.
  • URL Filtering: Extremely effective for blocking of questionable content and protecting from phishing sites.
  • Antivirus: Our clients have seen far fewer active threats when a WatchGuard Network Security Device is in place.
  • Data Loss Prevention: A valuable tool for our clients who require more security when it comes to metadata and personal data leaving the network.
  • It would be great to have a migration tool to HELP between competitor products to attempt to migrate a configuration so that time and client money is saved when moving into a WatchGuard Network Security deployment.
  • Remote deployment is inconsistent i.e. setting a configuration ahead of time for the device to implement when it powers on and dials home. Would like to see this developed more and with more capability for complexity.
I have and will continue to recommend WatchGuard Network Security to clients large and small. Our business has had no opportunity to say, " You're too small or simple to not benefit from this level of security." WatchGuard has a solution we can confidently offer to even our smallest client with confidence and know we can convey the peace of mind having a WatchGuard Network Security appliance.

And with many criminal justice networks requiring two-factor authentication for mobile devices, WatchGuard now offers their integrated AuthPoint service, which can easily provide this service to agencies without requiring them to invest in third-party tokens/services to make it happen.
  • WatchGuard AuthPoint allows CJIS-compliant MFA for mobile devices.
  • Layered security services can easily block threats from several different angles.
  • Easy-to-use system manager makes building policies and interpreting them very easy.
  • WatchGuard Cloud features have room to grow. I would love to see it fully replace the need for Dimension or WatchGuard Server Manager.
  • AuthPoint support for third-party tokens (for agencies that already own them) would be a nice addition.
WatchGuard Security Services are very well-suited for our customer environments (criminal justice networks). They're very easy to centrally manage (we have about 45 that we handle). It would, perhaps, be less well-suited for very small environments. Although WatchGuard does provide smaller/less-expensive units, they may be overkill for very small environments or those that do not have to be concerned with regulatory needs.

As a network security architect, it is my job to design NIST SP-800 cybersecurity framework hardened network layer security solutions. In doing so, we have been able to deliver high levels of security effectiveness at an affordable price to organizations ranging from one user to 500 users.
  • WatchGuard System Manager and centralized management is the key to low TCO
  • Security solution efficacy is critical. A solution that is only 95% effective is not good enough.
  • Partner support is good and enables us to be able to deliver quality solutions that are consistently functional
  • Partner enablement. WG focuses on the channel as they know that the skill of the integrators is what makes the difference between a default appliance and an effective security solution
  • Partner communications on technical issues. For example the undocumented feature of SDWAN hidden route. There is still no documentation on that.
  • Too infrequent communications about high incidence technical support issues. We do not want to have to be encountering known issues and then having outages or problems that we then have to put in tickets about.
  • Pay attention to your most highly technical partners, not just those that sell a lot of equipment. The highly technical partners can and do provide very usable feedback that can make the products better.
  • WG wants partners to build relationships with people inside WG so we can drive solutions to problems, but too frequently, we get no response to emails sent to the proper internal resources about legitimate issues.
I do not recommend Fireboxes for network layer security in a situation where you cannot run a Firebox as the core network router for all subnets/VLANs because the network is simply too large to be accommodated on a single Firebox appliance. In that case of a network that is too large, I run a network layer security solution on every single Extreme switch in an environment and possibly also at the WAP layer. The Extreme solution is not as good or as flexible, but it does scale larger. The Extreme solution is also too expensive for any environment of less than 500 users. This statement would also be true of any Cisco, Checkpoint, Aruba, or HPE Networking solution. All of those solutions have a very high cost of implementation and maintenance, but they do scale to the size of 10,000+ endpoints.

We use WatchGuard firewalls across the entire organization for all of our clients as a tool in troubleshooting but also much much more. Everything is where it intuitively should be in my humble opinion and also their tech support rocks!
  • Layer Security Stack
  • World Class Amazing Tech Support
  • Complex Solutions made to be easily managed
  • The ability to add identification of applications through some type of submission process on the Application Control feature.
WatchGuard can support anything from an SMB to Enterprise. I don't believe there is any business, regardless of size, that should have a WatchGuard firebox protecting them. You can set up the firewall policies to be as locked down as you want or to allow most things and still remain protected.

It is currently being used across the entire organization. That way we can do things like be proactive with helping them if they click on the wrong websites that might exploit their computer.
  • Their training is phenomenal.
  • The support for their partners is excellent. One of the best companies that I've been involved with to support us.
  • The product is amazing. I've been a partner with other security companies and by far WatchGuard has excellent technology and it's easy to use. But not only is it easy to use but it makes sense when you configure it.
  • Their customer service team is awesome. I recently have to call in and everyone was very professional and very friendly.
  • The training is great. I know they are updating their training videos. I did like how the networking certification had videos that were broken up and condensed into a smaller video instead of a large one. The wireless training had long videos and if it was broken up it would have been easier.
  • Having the coursework ready for the certification.
  • For the training certifications to have the video easier to rewind 10 seconds back or 15 seconds back. Right now there is no button that allows us to rewind the video in that fashion.
I believe that WatchGuard is really good in scenarios where it is a small or medium-sized business. It does a great job in monitoring wireless security as well as internal network security and external network security.

We use WatchGuard Network Security both internally and for corporate clients. The range of security services, product range, configuration flexibility and ROI makes WatchGuard an outstanding choice.
  • Sufficient product range for SMB through large Gov't / Corporate
  • Easy to configure and maintain, reasonable ongoing subscription costs with flexible support options
  • Product availability - in stock or withing days for delivery
  • Top tier support when you need them.
  • Built in wireless devices have occasionally been problematic (ex T35-W series)
  • # 1 would be the ability to copy a base configuration easily from one device to another (policies)
  • Would like to see technical re write exams elongated, three years currently is just to short - min 5 yr would be reasonable, with all the certifications by other vendors this places undue/un-needed burden on the reseller. demand upkeep webinars instead.
In today's quickly evolving security (risk) environment the need for active, secure firewall management and threat protection is really a must in all corporate and small business environments and WatchGuard has a sufficient product range to suit budget and need. About the only place it may be overkill is home based users, unless WatchGuard comes up with a basic home version under $150 USD.

We are using it currently in our own organization as our primary firewall, wireless, and VPN solution. We are also using them for some of our clients with managed services.
  • Enterprise level security.
  • Price-point accommodating for small to medium-sized businesses.
  • Ability to have integrated 2-factor authentication platform.
  • More traditional-style ACL list for firewall rules.
WatchGuard is very well suited to provide true next-gen quality protection for businesses. We also are using it for some of our high-end residential customers to provide visibility to what is taking place over their network. The downside is that they focus specifically on network-security products and do not have other networking devices (switches/routers/etc).

We are a reseller and we use it as our first line firewall in all our clients as a security and firewall/router.
  • Very intuitive GUI.
  • Dimension server for managing the client's activities and logs is simple and responsive.
  • WatchGuard support both from a re-seller information perspective and from a technical support perspective. We, as Advanced Office Solutions, feel very well supported.
  • Although Dimension Server is great, it is simple. More reporting, more in-depth capabilities, and functions would be helpful. Added trouble reports that are automated and sent to the support agent as an example.
I feel that based on the suites of products that WatchGuard has that there is really no place that does not fit. Cost may be a catalyst for a smaller client, however, we, even then, recommend the investment as no one business escapes Cyber attacks/ers.

We use WatchGuard Network Security as our firewall solution for our entire company. We have one in each of our geographic regions to allow/restrict access to the internet and other internal networks. We also use WatchGuard access points for our wireless network throughout our organization as well.
  • It is easy to set up and restore from a backup if needed
  • The web interface for the firewall is easy to navigate and use
  • Customer support has always been helpful and quick to respond when I needed them
  • Can't think of any time where there was functionality that was not there.
WatchGuard Network Security is well suited for our environment which is supporting around 300 people using computers and we have not had any performance issues with them. If you are planning to also use the WatchGuard access points, they can all be managed from the same interface that the firewall is managed from. If using one of these firewalls in a large enterprise environment (1000+ people), you will probably need to set up load balancing between multiple firewalls to keep performance up, which I have no experience using with WatchGuard.

We have found the products to be very reliable as well as cost effective. I've also used the product in the past as an independent consultant with clients in multiple industries.
  • Reliable Hardware
  • Easy to configure
  • Robust Security
  • Better training on new features
  • Faster response to technical issues
  • More granular license upgrades
I have found WatchGuard to be one of the best values in the industry. The selection of models has allowed deployment to offices and facilities of all sizes. The security features are invaluable for managing threats across multiple attack vectors. The VPN configuration tools provided are user-friendly and highly secure.

- Multiple SMB's. We recommend, manage, and install security (and other) solutions for businesses throughout Western Canada.
- WatchGuard security addresses the current Canadian Federal Government standards for businesses that handle personal client information.
  • Intrusion Detection: Cloud-based and very responsive. It helps stop malicious activity from getting within the small business Local Area Networks.
  • Intrusion Prevention: TDR is a very advanced prevention system that I have not seen an equivalent for with any other vendor.
  • Dimension-based BoVPN: it's very easy to configure, set up, and monitor.
  • Dimension needs to include features that were available in the Management server!
  • The Access Points need to have the ability to manage from the command line (for instance, in the event of firmware update failure from cloud management).
  • When there is an issue with a Firebox update, better communication of that issue would be appreciated (i.e. v12.4 had some issues with Policies not working properly, and we only found this out when experiencing the issue and opening a Case for it).
The configurations required for heavily filtered environments are vastly more complex than for the configurations (in the same environment) for untangling NG. Except for those environments, there are no other scenarios that it would not be suited for.

As an IT consultant for many organizations, deploying WatchGuard gives me the centralized control, access and reporting I need to keep my clients as secure as possible. Dimension Control allows me to centrally control all of my clients border protection devices while also providing me a global view of each endpoint through TDR and Authpoint. Their MSP tools are improving on each release.
  • Centralized management of the entire WatchGuard infrastructure through Dimension control and reporting.
  • Integration of two-factor authentication for both domain and VPN logins.
  • WatchGuard technical support has always been a key point in using their devices.
  • Collective MSP reporting for clients has always been an issue. A more generalized view of an end-user's activity is often called for by my clients for a given end-user. A report that has the ability to remove "background traffic" like Windows updates. My clients would like to see a report along the lines of "user a was on facebook.com for 88 minutes, Spotify for 90" etc...
  • On initial deployment, the free-ware based wireless access points were problematic to the point we threw them away in lieu of another product. To this day, my clients do not want to use/trust WatchGuard wireless AP's. Tying a license to an AP, like Cisco, is why they will never be deployed. The ones in place work, don't need to be reset, and don't have a license tied to them for all of the services offered.
Given the range of devices from simple XTM30 models through M300 and upwards, there are few areas where WatchGuard Network Security as a border protection system is not well suited.

We use WatchGuard firewalls with TSS across our entire organization with all protection features enabled, including Reputation Enabled Defense, Threat Detection and Response, Geolocation filtering, web blocking with content filtering, and a nice, new feature known as DNS Watch.
  • Threat Detection and Response to defend against active malware and viruses as well as zero-day threat protection.
  • Web blocking with content filtering is used to prevent employees from going to websites where they will be less productive.
  • DNS Watch is used to prevent employees from accidentally going to websites that could insert a virus onto their computer.

We utilize WatchGuard across our entire organization to protect our own infrastructure, as well as client, hosted infrastructure. The problems resolved by WatchGuard for us have mainly been high security related issues such as gateway antivirus, spam filter, geolocation and many other security holes that our businesses fave. WatchGuard allows us to provide security at an affordable price.
  • Timely updates.
  • Threat detection.
  • Customer service.
  • The desktop client needs a face lift.
  • Logging is a pain to configure.
  • I’d like to see more price points in between products.
WatchGuard network security, as far as we are concerned, fits in any size business. We deploy to offices of less than 5 employees, and to larges offices of several hundred employees. I cannot speak intelligently enough on the enterprise or large Fortune 500 size organizations, but for the majority of SMBs, WatchGuard works perfectly!

It also allows us to remote in to some of our customers and help them remotely with PC issues.
  • Virus Blocking
  • Spam Blocking
  • Geo Filtering
  • Cost
  • Version of their Firewall for Home Use
Well suited when a compay's files are of utmost important to them, where the customer is vulnerable to cyber attacks, where there is a big organization and you want to limit employees' access to the open internet.

It is less appropriate in a smaller corporate environment, the cost per employee would be very high

So the biggest challenge is keeping up with renewing subscriptions on which device, and applying the right feature key to the right device.
  • Support is handled particularly well, they are always polite and helpful. They make sure you are happy with the resolution. What helps me the most is you can schedule a time for support to call. I can plan to be at one of our field offices at a certain time and schedule support to call me at that time. instead of me calling them and waiting on hold until a technician is freed up.
  • Webblocker helps me save time blocking undesirable sites with an easy to configure list. Together with Spam blocker and Gateway Anti Virus along with there other apps, WatchGuard helps keep my users safe whether at Corporate headquarters or in a branch office.
  • Feature Keys and the renewing process is bulky and worrisome, especially for 20 or more boxes.
  • Having forgotten a password, it would have been nice if support could have remotely connected and reset password.
We use a variety of WatchGuard fireboxes, some sites the traffic is heaver. Our back up sites receive replicated data. Corporate has several branch office tunnels in play, and some sites just use a web based program to enter its data. WatchGuard provides a device that is well suited for all of our needs.

Creating firewall policies and making configuration changes is straightforward and a breeze compared to other competitors. I'm also a huge fan of the trade in program that ensures we are always on current hardware.
  • Ease of management with the Systems Manager tool.
  • Customer loyalty programs for hardware upgrades.
  • Top-notch security features.
  • Continue to make the web GUI more powerful.
  • Clear up the redundancy of management tools.
WatchGuard offers a solution for every size of environment from home to large scale enterprise.

WatchGuard performs routing, firewall, IPS, content filtering, antivirus, and antispam functions at the edge of our core network, and interconnects all of our branch offices. We also provide a mobile VPN to our users. We also utilize WatchGuard Dimension to keep track of security threats and provide the information required to meet PCI-DSS compliance standards.
  • Branch office VPN.
  • Centralized management.
  • Ease of deployment.
  • Mobile SSL VPN client needs a start-before-logon capability.
  • Dynamic routing (OSPF, BGP) should have better integration with management tools.
WatchGuard Network Security is well suited for most small and medium-sized businesses with the need for information security and branch office connectivity.

WatchGuard appliances and their corresponding security features are used over a very large territorial region of the Salvation Army. My scope is divisional, managing 65 devices. We utilize several Firebox models to protect our WAN locations, as well as provide DHCP for smaller locations, content blocking, and intrusion detection. WatchGuard devices allow us to control traffic, manage content, and secure tunnel communications to centralized resources.
  • The availability of DHCP is invaluable for our smaller offices, eliminating the need for additional hardware.
  • Content blocking is crucial to The Salvation Army, as many of our clients are children and vulnerable adults.
  • MUVPN and BOVPN services allow access to data hosted at our organizational headquarters, to be shared across networks.
  • Renewal Licensing for Live Security is nearly the same as a new firewall with Live Security. Does anyone think this is crazy?
  • Expiration of subscription services disables web access, unless the preferences are change from the default.
WatchGuard is always innovating their security suite and adding and improving features to their perimeter security devices. Each iteration of the firewall appliance is uniquely outfitted with the appropriate tools to both enable data communication and protect the local network. Scalable and reliable, WatchGuard security devices simply work. There are no cases I can think of where at least one, if not two WatchGuard models will fit both the budget and the needs of any office or facility.
