WatchGuard is my "go-to" for network security - the best.
Overall Satisfaction with WatchGuard Network Security
We are all at the mercy of those who would like to steal from us and misuse personal data. Early on, I realized that I needed to place a "firewall" between my local area network and the outside world—the Internet. Time and time again, careful inspection of incoming attempts at breaking in to our local network has proven to me that the WatchGuard system does a super job of blocking unwanted intrusion and helping to prevent our users from accidentally going to malicious web sites. This protects our employees and guests in ways that they would not expect - working behind the scenes to keep them safe without interfering with their use of the Internet. This is the Internet as it was meant to be: easy and safe. I've been in the computer field for 50 years and very glad to have invested in the WatchGuard solution.
Pros
- Incoming Torrent attempts were blocked, but outgoing (by a user) were permitted. Similarly, other direct attempts were summarily blocked.
- provides full administrative support for analysis of usage and scope.
- strong Wi-Fi support and security - area wi-fi maps
- They think of all the things secure and I don't have to worry about it.
- I have not identified anything else that needs improvement - I am well satisfied.
Cons
- While I do have a third party (reseller) to turn to for administrative support, the user interface might be more user-friendly to first-time users.
- Our users have confidence in the security of our network - that is the best ROI I can think of.
I have had several partners over the years. But one person has been handling our system all that time (and has moved through different partners over time). That company is AMA Networks in San Diego. They have always provided quick response and excellent solutions for my needs. I'd be hard-pressed to handle it all myself even though I come from a computer background.
As expressed earlier, I try to keep my nose out of the details, rarely changing our base setup, and rely on WatchGuard support for that. I am confident that our network is safe and secure - very good value in that.
I had an excellent referral to WatchGuard from a friend. I have not evaluated any other brands.
