Daylite vs. FogBugz vs. OmniFocus

Well suited for any size company which needs CRM management. Easy to use. Great for individuals or teams that use Apple products. Daylite and ios expert integration has been key in capturing leads from our website into the Daylite database, plus then if they opt into email marketing, they are entered into the MailChimp database. The web forms also automate the creation of opportunities and are linked with the contacts/companies. Sales Managers with geographical responsibilities can easily filter contacts or projects based on these regions so they only see what they need. Daylite is not appropriate for Windows users.

Fogbugz is great for case-and-task based businesses. If your business has hundreds of weekly anticipated tasks that exist, such as processes to get files converted, Fogbugz can manage these processes very well. For our team, we knew each week that we would have about 500 tasks or orders to get processed. Fogbugz helped us break down these projects, get them assigned evenly throughout the team, and easily see who is working on what task. FogBugz is also good for tracking unanticipated tasks like bugs, making notes, flowcharts, and categorizing if the problem is a bug, feature request, etc. For us, it was just the best at nailing down those anticipated tasks.

If someone is in the Apple ecosystem, it's the best choice. Far beyond a simple task manager, OmniFocus is the only software I've found that can reliably track every aspect of one's life. If I want anything in my life to be different than it currently is, there's a place for it in OmniFocus.

• Workflow capability is very limited to the original implementation, could use a refresh and extension of the capabilities
• UI/UX needs improvement. This was in the works prior to purchase by DevFactory, and has taken a back seat to backend improvements that rightfully needed to be fixed first.
• Pricing model doesn't fit our usage very well, so we're paying for full-featured users for everyone even though the majority of Users only need to submit Cases and modify the Wikis, and our small percentage of Users are in Dev and need all features.

• I would really like to see graphic presentations of how I allocate my time, what categories of tasks don't get accomplished, etc.
• I would like to see OmniFocus include Gantt chart functionality, such as allowing me to see how long it took me to accomplish a task from start to finish. Allowing me to actually input time spent, and seeing it on a Gantt chart, would be icing on the cake.

Daylite is dragging us towards success and giving reliable features. The developer and technical team listen to the feedback about the platform and correct the errors and bugs in the limited time frame. It helps in managing the project's progress, track the overall completion of project, plan, creates and performs with having a feature of adding a reminder to the task and helps in easily managing the finances too.

FogBugz is made for the Developers who actually use it every day, while JIRA is made for the C-Suite who oversees them but has little idea of the finer points of daily dev tasks. In reality, most don't fit into the mold of JIRA tickets, and the summarized information that C-Suite is reviewing is incomplete or skewed. There is also an outstanding issue since 2004 that JIRA refuses to implement despite wide user support, the merging of tickets. OmniFocus is built for the user with a lot going on - consequently, it does a great job at organizing lots of things in a manageable workload. It's perfect for taking a project and breaking it down into small tasks for yourself or teams. Once you get past the learning curve, it's quick at adding new tasks. Overall, it's an excellent product.

• Daylite has been very helpful for new employees to answer their own questions about contacts/passwords, etc.
• We found the tiny notification bell to be weak, sometimes a project comes in with a tight deadline and we have to double-check and ask an employee if they saw the notification. More time would be saved by just chatting about the project and its expectations.
• A huge benefit is the institutional knowledge that can be had by reading past projects. We've tracked everything, so the history is there.

• Less downtime of jobs. It is each person's responsibility to check their list to see if they have any pending work.
• When people are out sick or busy, a supervisor can easily shift work from one person to another who many have time to cover work.
• Management has a quick view into seeing what is happening with a job and can use it as a tool to request addiional resources as needed.

• OmniFocus keeps our tasks moving forward. Using a free script you can search all your current projects for projects that have no next step assigned to it to ensure nothing falls through the cracks.
• When we serve our clients, the attention to detail we are able to give them comes from accurate tracking of what we need to deliver.
• We complete projects 25% faster than before and we can see where the bottlenecks are immediate. We have also been forced to document tasks in a more concrete manner which allows for better execution.
