If you often get lead lists for import, large databases, a lot of users manipulating data regularly, then this is very necessary. Otherwise, I wouldn't see a huge need. I will say that we have found more cost effective apps that have a little more what we need as far as customization and more features.

If you are looking for a backup infrastructure which is efficient and compatible for both file system and block level backup, then HPE StoreOnce is a great choice. It's easy to configure and easy to manage. We didn't have to hire a separate storage expert to set up StoreOnce for us. The HPE team helped our system admins and it was a easy to configure.

Pros
Symphonic Source
  • User friendly & easy to navigate. I don't have a lot of time to learn brand new processes, so the ease of dupecatcher saved me a lot of time that I would normally spend hours doing manual work, merging duplicates.
  • "Ignore" some apps don't allow you to ignore dupes, as some may know this is absolutely necessary sometimes.
  • Alerts that notify SF users when they are creating duplicates.

  • We really like the deduplication feature of HPE StoreOnce. It helps reduce storage footprint by 1:3 to 1:10 depending on type of files being stored.
  • It's easy to manage files on HPE StoreOnce servers using command line options.
  • We use Veeam Backup Server software to manage our backups on HPE StoreOnce.

Cons
Symphonic Source
  • While it is user friendly, the interface could use a facelift. Very old school looking.
  • Sometimes it will flag false duplicate results.
  • Mass delete option is not available, and would be very useful.

  • Could be more user-friendly when deploying.
  • Cost is as friendly as Pure Storage Array.
  • HPE does well support this technology.

We had DupeCatcher first, but did demo a few other similar products and decided to go with a different product due to the fact that they had a lot more features, customization, and excellent customer service.

  • Any tool that can catch duplicates is something almost any CRM using company needs. So obviously this will always have a positive impact on a company.
  • I wouldn't say we had a negative impact but we were able to find tools that did what DupeCatcher does and them some with a higher price tag, but you get a lot more features, and in my opinion what you would want/need/expect out of a dupe catcher.

Hewlett Packard Enterprise
  • While not completely eliminating tape, it has relegated the use of tape to monthly and annual backups for compliance. It has reduced the recurring expense of tape media.
  • It has increased the length of the retention period because of its efficiency in storing backups.
  • The online backup repositories are now replicated to the secondary datacenter, a capability not possible with tapes.
