F5 Distributed Cloud Network Connect vs. vRealize Operations (discontinued)

I would recommend this if you have many cross-platform services across multiple cloud providers and don't want to manage and update them manually. For a simple setup, use a site-to-site VPN, but if you have multiple apps, this will reduce complexity. Moreover, they have their own fiber network worldwide to avoid latency.

With the introduction of API-based event alerts, there is no need for a proxy, which is a good option. Its ability to manage infra on a real-time basis is a good option that helps monitor, administer and troubleshoot virtual machines.

• No manual VPN configuration, static routes, or BGP routing table is needed. You only need to install their Customer Edge tool.
• If there is some security incident in one account, second account remains protected.
• Environment level segregation like Production, Stagging, development.
• Set up a secure, encrypted tunnel across multiple cloud platforms for communication between them.

• The support model needs a quite a bit of work. I personally have experienced an outage on the platform. due to mis-configureation Although the outage was due to engineer error it took over 2 hours before we were able to speak to an engineer
• Proxy v2 protocol to allow our organization to capture and view the source IP address

It has a good GUI to monitor real-time logs for cloud applications. This is quite a useful tool and preferred over most of the competitive applications in the market.

The support is pretty good however some of the KB articles still reference different versions of the product so it can be hard to find answers to common questions

Aviatrix operates like a slightly different version of XC. Mostly it relies on routing, where cloud connect takes a whole stack into consideration. Not sure if XC can fully replace Aviatrix, but after a couple of implementations, it may become apparent. There are similar routing features in both. XC has more overall features.

SCOM was quite overwhelming when we first set up a POC for it. There was just too much for one person to handle. With vROPs I can manage the product and provide the support needed for my environment. We also have a Solarwinds environment that provides us with a level of detail and alerting we have come to rely upon. vROPS takes it to another level because it links directly into vCenter to provide you with a complete picture of your virtual environment.

• We believe that the ability to preplan deployments with vRealize has proven its return on investments.
• Our troubleshooting time has been reduced with vrealize because its constantly collecting performance data. typically vrealize will tell us cause of fault before we can determine it ourselves.
