Netpeak Spider vs. UpCity

[Netpeak] Spider is a great service for:

• Checking and monitoring big websites or e-commerce projects for technical errors on regular basis
• Creating custom formulas for calculation of internal page ranks and building a tree view with this information
• Get reports that include metrics for every page (performance, inbound and outbound links, indexing status)
• Create reports that include all metrics from external SEO services like Serpstat or Similarweb for every single page of your website

It's very useful software for SEO or marketing agencies that have a lot of projects to work with, but might be overkill for small projects and companies.

For our purposes, UpCity is well suited to our small business clients that are looking to improve their SEO. We have had a good partnership with UpCity to provide consulting and copywriting services for local search, social media and reputation management for our clients, and their software and reporting helps us show ROI to our clients.

• Crawling data and metrics from every webpage on website (page structure, titles, meta tags, Google GTM & Analytics presence)

• Customized marketing checklist is incredible!
• The way UpCity verifies items in your marketing checklist (like whether you have social accounts, you're on Google, etc,) helps my business, and others, save precious time having to manually verify them yourself.
• I love the impact scores and estimated time shown on each task to give us a feel of how much we are doing each month and what value that time spent is.
• The "about" and "how to" section on tasks makes it very clear how to accomplish each task.

• You can buy a subscription only for month or more, you can't pay for 1-2 projects
• No version for MacOS
• It's only desktop software, online version is not available

• Unwillingness to help dissatisfied customers

• False advertising regarding the number of click throughs and leads
• Rude customer service reps that don’t help with your issues
• Expensive service
• Little value for money

Usability is mediocre: They have a dashboard to track things but they have some antiquated system of ranking companies and don’t tell you what the logic is behind it. You also have no way to combat negative ratings or respond and try to correct them.

I received little help from customer service rep, Sarah. She told me I should speak to a manager to “reset my expectations”. Apparently, all the sales promises of more traffic and increase SEO were an issue with my expectations, and not the company failing to deliver.

We choose Netpeak Spider because: 1. Can buy a monthly subscription and have unlimited number of websites to check. 2. Price. It's affordable, especially when you have not only one project. 3. Frequent updates. With every update functionality is expanding (latest update for example brought a lot of new integrations). 4. Quality of reports. They are very detailed and have everything we needed for our work.

• Get a full report with common technical errors on websites without manual QA testing
• Speed up work of SEO specialist, can automatically calculate tree with internal page ranks
• It's all-in-one tool and you don't need to buy another services to get all this info

• UpCity was costly for us because we were small. If we were a 10 person agency, the price would be right in line with what we need.
