NewgenONE Digital Transformation Platform vs. SAP NetWeaver BPM vs. Tungsten Capture

The Newgen OmniDocs is the best option when it comes to storing, sharing, disseminate documents. It is also widely used by the Technical team in my previous employers for storing their technical codes & queries and they have always cast their trust vote to Newgen OmniDocs. I have always recommended Newgen OmniDocs to my auditing, finance, technology and banking sector clients for whom data confidentiality matters more than any other industry. It is less appropriate in the businesses that do not require storing the documents as they destroy the documents once sent to the client to ensure they do not save client information or project. Furthermore, it is less appropriate in almost 50% of India as well as many other parts in MENA region where there is no presence of high-speed internet as it takes high bandwidth of internet to operate.

It is well suited when we need to integrate business processes with SAP ERP and SAP CRM - the solution can be integrated with business rules/procedures defined in SAP ERP/CRM and NetWeaver can be used to monitor the rules and flag off exceptions. When there are multiple workflows running, it tends to slow down running of these processes. Also, it entirely depends on SAP portal for it to run efficiently.

Kofax [Capture] meets our needs and for the most part is easy to use and setup. Configuration could be a little bit easier. The scripting language is a double edge sword if you will. It gives you nearly unlimited possibilities to script what you need, but the downside is you have to script it. Does a good job at batching and scanning documents. The tool integrates well into our workflow which makes our business partners happy and in turn provides for happy customers.

• Swift access to documents and repositories
• Makes it much easier to share docs. and collaborate with multiple teams at a time
• Reduce operational cost as well as time to market
• Much easier to store, and retrieve file
• Easy to access it anytime on the mobile
• Supports the documents of all formats
• Easy to learn. No training required

• Virtual paper trail. Iterations of process and current documentation are all stored as "artifacts", leaving a great trail.
• Configuration of users. BPM somewhat magically determines which users will be impacted and automates rules.
• A pro (that is also a con) is the design interface. If you know what you are doing, it is incredibly powerful and malleable.

• The VRS application included with Kofax Capture is the best image pre-processing platform available on the market today. It can handle a wide array of common document problems such as skew, flipping, wrinkles, lines, and dots.
• The platform is incredibly scriptable and can be customized to handle all sorts of unusual document contents to allow information to be extracted that many other platforms just struggle on. Table extraction, line item matching, and smart extraction are all strong points with this platform.
• Through the use of SBL and .NET the platform can be expanded and scaled quite easily to allow for the software to be integrated into existing business processes and platforms with ease.

• Doesn't operate well in India as the nation has lowest internet speed and it requires higher speed to operate
• Very long queues and slow response when calling technical helpdesk
• Takes time to upload documents

• We struggled with configuring Kofax with AP Automation. We used to receive vouchers in different formats by different companies, by different departments. The people from different departments used to scan those vouchers through regular scanners to a central location, which ended up as image pdfs. We fed these image pdfs through Kofax Capture for character recognition, which was painful as the accuracy of recognition was 50 to 60%.
• Having a connectors with a workflow tool would be helpful where people can validate and approve the output.
• More samples and documentation related to use of API in .NET applications would be a good improvement, that would help users to adapt the product easily into their organization.

As a big fan of SAP in general, the BPM solution fits right in with all the other things SAP does well, and does it with incredible efficiency

Cost of Kofax is high, however the cost to benefit scenarios always pay off.

We have our own tech support for systems, I would say they probably could use more training on it, I don't really think it's anything regarding the SAP system, but more the knowledge they have on the system itself. It seems to take longer for them to fix any issues we may come across.

Newgen OmniDocs is the only one I have used

I found the initial setup of NetWeaver is much simpler than other products especially in an SAP environment where we have SAP ERP/HRM/CRM as it can be well integrated with other SAP products. The only drawback is the need/dependency on SAP Portal. It is better suited in an environment where SAP ERP is running.

Kofax Capture is much costlier with compared to other competitive applications but is also provides many more features than other applications.

• Faster search with easy to access files which helps me in sending the document quickly to the clients and retrieving it in no time whenever they ask for it. Sending the documents quickly always ensures higher client satisfaction which has great impact on ROI
• Facilitates easy collaboration with client teams and ensures the research project is done exactly as per the client's requirements & needs. This also always makes clients happy and attract repeat projects and more revenues
• Makes it easier for the tech. team to store / save technical queries & codes. Thus, whenever I approach them to make changes in my reports/ articles while uploading it on the website, tech. team does that at much faster pace. This leads in increased efficiency of Content writers as well as the tech. team

• Helped us harness integrated benefit from having SAP ERP/CRM by leveraging NetWeaver to define business processes/rules and monitor exceptions
• Did not have any negative experience except for the fact that at times when multiple rules run, it can be somewhat slow
