Next.js vs. NGINX Plus

I love using Next.js — it's my go-to framework for new personal projects and work projects. The local development environment is quick, easy, and fun to use. The framework it uses, which puts an API that runs node in your pages subdirectory, is absolutely genius. No more middleware! It's good for quick projects and big projects alike. I wouldn't use Next.js if I did not want to heavily rely on serverless tech.

Makes our life easy as application admins in securing our applications and making them accessible. We can easily add an application within a few minutes and define the backend servers right away.

• Window sizing makes handling SSR pages odd, at times
• React can be easier to statically deploy
• Somewhat of a learning curve

We had an issue after upgrading from RHEL 7 to 8, and there were some issues that the security team imposed upon the platform with a scanning tool. We also had a VXLAN environment that was not properly sending a gratuitous arp to the network. NGINX support was instrumental to speedily resolving our issue.

Next.js takes the best parts of React and applies them to a full-stack dev environment. With a built-in serverless API, it's easy to boot up a web application in under an hour. With easy integration with tools like Firebase, Supabase, Stripe, and countless others, Next.js is a perfect tool for getting your idea out into the real world.

The API and dashboard alone make NGINX Plus a better choice.

• We are planning by using NGINX it can greatly reduce our OPEX by 50% "just our own running APIGW" the cascading effects in the long run will be much more.
