RationalPlan vs. Rev.io PSA

Appropriate as a great alternative to MS Project. RationalPlan provides most of the features needed to develop and maintain mid-level complex schedules. Less Appropriate for large complex schedules of long duration. These can be a challenge due to Duration at top-level. It is also a challenge to generate reports for management - reporting feature is limited.

Tigerpaw Unleashed, according to Trust Radius is no longer being marketed. If it worked correctly, it has the potential to be great software for Enterprise level businesses. We chose the Unleashed version so that the technicians could use it in the field. It does take a lot of information to get the software up and running

• Portfolio view is great to get a feel for how your programme is running at a glance and which areas possibly might require attention. The fact that you can customise your view by adding your own columns is another plus.
• All project information in one tool is a big plus for me considering the amount of projects we run with. This really improves efficiency and saves me time. You have the ability to add documents to tasks, manage risks, email resources tasks due for projects they are assigned to(might need some refinement depending on your requirements), material db with costing etc.

• ability to dispatch tech's to service calls

• Milestones should be a primary option instead of 0h to create one.

• When training, during the overview of a chapter the examples tend to be from a prior version and do not reflect current software.
• In my experience when things don't work the way you think they should being told to go back and read the chapter that you read 5 times before is not helpful.
• I my experience when they know that there is an issue and the software is not working they keep billing you.
• They like to tell you that they are escalating the problem. You never see a resolution and they do not get back to you . You have to keep calling them.
• They acknowledge that you are having issues and state that there will be a credit. I have not seen one.
• In my opinion, training is filled with jargon and no glossary.

I had to ask for support once and got a response immediately.

RationalPlan is cost-effective and allows most users to prepare and manage their schedule. The software lacks comprehensive reporting and duration changes at the top level of a project.
