SugarSync vs. Vinchin Backup & Recovery

When doing daily jobs, if you’re sharing large files, I think Dropbox works a lot better but if you have a system where you’re working within that system and you want to be able to work with that system and have certain folders that you have access to all the time then SugarSync might be just the ticket.

As Vinchin has released newer versions, it has gradually expanded support for a wider range of ecosystems while introducing more advanced features. We first started using it with version 6, when there were still several areas that could be improved. Today, the platform has evolved to include features we don't even use, reflecting how much it has matured. In the past, I would say Vinchin was best suited for small and medium-sized businesses. Today, however, with capabilities such as resilient backup options and support for private cloud platforms like OpenStack, it has become much more enterprise-ready. Adding backup support for Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Microsoft Azure would likely further strengthen that positioning.

• Sync files in any folder - rather than forcing you to store them in a certain place (Although this can be confusing too)
• Works in the background - although this is true for all
• You can share with others - including those who do not use SugarSync

• VM Backup is really good which we are using hosted in XCP-NG Hypervisor.
• MYSQL Hot Backup is good, we are using for multiple versions.
• Support is very prompt.

• Can only think of one thing. I have helped others to get going with SugarSync and they if they have problems it is understanding the cloud.... So maybe (if it dosen't exist already) I would like to have a animation of the proces with "flying" folders between desktops, clouds etc. Otherwise SugarSync is just great.

• Please improve regarding log details. The error on the log does not clear.
• Please make it as installer. So we can install VBR on another platform like Ubuntu.

1. Freemium model is the ideal marketing for an app like this. 2. Now their sync methods with Android are worse

1. Vinchin does the Job (Agent, Agentless) with flexible recovery point options, and restoration has all the features like entire VM, file level, BMR, Etc. 2. Instant Virtual machine is very useful as an immediate recovery option and migration as well 3. BMR is super easy from agent-based backup or agent-less

SugarSync, like all solutions, has its place in the data storage stack within a company. The main reason SugarSync is better than the other solutions is that it enables me to leave my hard drive organized and keep my existing file trees. I don't have to constantly move or copy files to a specific folder if I want them backed up.

Vinchin Backup isn't exactly comparable to these products because it offers a multitude of features that allow it to be integrated into any environment, even beyond the smallest single server. These features include the multitude of virtualization platforms it connects to for backup, features that almost no other competitor can offer.

• There were some opensource alternatives but we wanted something with better support which SugarSync offers.
• We achieved faster project collaboration with SugarSync.

• We have been using Vinchin for the last 3 years, and we have had no issues with VM backups. VM backups are taken for approximately 450 VMs using multiple schedules.
• For MySQL, we are using the Community edition, where the native hot backup solution is not available. Using Vinchin, we can take hot backups at regular intervals, which have significantly reduced our RPO. Earlier, we used to take MYSQL backup using our own scripts only once a day, at night. After using Vinchin, now it's every 2hours.
• Support is very prompt. Whenever an issue arises, we get support in the WhatsApp group created for our organization.
