BugHerd works for us!

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use BugHerd for tracking feedback, changes, and fixes during the development and testing of our STEM/Tech-focused courseware products. Our product development, maintenance, SMEs/faculty experts, and Alpha Testers teams use BugHerd for logging and tracking issues and their resolutions throughout the development process.

Pros

  • Link feedback directly to the location in our courses.
  • Provide flexible updates for our enhancement requests.
  • Provide an intuitive, easy-to-use, and feature-rich interface.

Cons

  • The Dashboard feature has been in Beta for some time; could use an update there.
  • The addition of the ability to associate multiple URLs with a single Project was welcome, but better handling of that feature in coordination with the Open Website button would be nice.
  • Being able to set up templates for quickly creating Projects with similar layouts (columns with custom names; default Members) would be very welcome.
  • The ability to customize the Priority status codes, in number, name, and color would also be nice.

Likelihood to Recommend

BugHerd is excellent for tracking feedback on websites or other web-based material (such as our online courses, delivered via LMS): the ability to easily and quickly move from the kanban board to the site of the issue, the rich features (auto-screenshots with mark-up; comment threads; assignments and @-mentions; status tracking); and the company's responsiveness to requests makes them great to work with.

Super helpful bug tracking tool that is easy to use and client-friendly

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

BugHerd has become a must-have tool in our web development process. It provides value for the project managers, testers and developers, as well as the clients. Previously, we had to ask the client to take screenshots of bugs, let us know what browser they were using and any specifics to their screen size and device. That is painful for our clients and not something that all of them could easily find out for us. In addition, it added a lot of unnecessary development time trying to track down that information. BugHerd is the solution that makes all of this process automated and gives us a support-ticket-like system to mage bugs and communicated with the client in a much more seamless way.

Pros

  • Track web development bugs and issues
  • Capture screenshots, browser details, device details, screen size details and user comments.
  • Manage the list of bugs, assign them to a developer and give them due date and priority.

Cons

  • It would be nice if it offered more integrations.
  • Workflow could be a little more sophisticated.

Likelihood to Recommend

BugHerd is perfect for a small to a mid-size digital agency and/or internal digital team. It may not have the robust feature set and workflow tools that larger enterprises require, but it is a powerful tool that can handle a wide range of web development situations and can be leveraged by a wide range of agencies and development shops.

Centralized Bug Tracker with Screen Capture, Tagging, and Commenting

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We're currently using Bugherd to perform UAT and work with the QA team for our backend website development. It's used cross-departmentally, from our tester in departments ranging from operations, to customer support, to marketing. We use BugHerd to capture issues on the website where the site is not performing to our requirements, or if we experience an error. Since there is a language barrier in some cases between QA and UAT, it has allowed us to pinpoint the exact location of the issue and address it fully in our comments. The screen capture feature that integrates and creates a corresponding ticket is an easy and fast way to report technical issues when they're encountered by a non-technical team.

Pros

  • The screen capture tool is terrific and allows web-based issues to get added and uploaded without any saving, copying, or resizing.
  • The widget that opens via a Chrome extension is intuitive and it's easy to toggle the feature on and off. If it's on, you can see all the other reported bugs on that page to help your team avoid multiple reports of the same issue.
  • The way the tool creates a new ticket for each bug and then allows you to adjust the status on it is helpful.
  • I enjoy the conversations and tagging features within each bug ticket.

Cons

  • The screen capture tool doesn't allow you to custom screenshot certain areas and upload them to your bug ticket. I'd like to be able to encompass a custom area rather than just the text or image or formatting blocks within a page.
  • Occasionally the widget will disappear and you'll have to reload the page in order to see the expandable arrow in the corner.
  • The comment history pings your email for every comment ticket, and it's not intuitive to deactivate this feature for users who aren't following up with a specific bug.

Likelihood to Recommend

Bugherd is well suited to our needs because it's an intuitive tool that doesn't require a ton of training, and we are working with a development agency to improve our backend and communicate issues to developers. From what I've seen, it does require you to use Chrome, which might not be perfect for other companies but it great for us.

The tool has great functionality for tracking and allows you to move bugs into stages like "doing", "done" or "backlog".

The screenshot tool has been super easy to use, and when we do have a bug that requires multiple screenshots, it's easy to open up a newly submitted ticket to attach a custom screenshot. It isn't easy to track down a specific bug you've logged if there are hundreds, so be prepared to dig quite a bit if you're using it for extensive testing and find yourself trying to go back.

Bugherd - Good for bug tracking.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Bugherd for tracking bugs in production and QA across the organization, simple and easy to use, a real quick method for project management and bug tracking. Bugherd simplifies our employees' ability to enter bugs and then track their progress from dev to tqa and then to final production release.

Pros

  • Ability to track bugs from the initial find to the final fix.
  • Easy to use with a quick learning curve.
  • Ability to add attachments and get multiple members involved with simple tracking.

Cons

  • The ability to add a couple more columns temporarily would be nice.

Likelihood to Recommend

Tracking bugs from the initial find to the end fix is great. Once a card is entered you can assign tasks to whom ever is needed to fix the problem. Notes and updates are recorded and notifications sent to your preference.
