These Cisco Catalyst 9100 Access Points are used corporate wide as the previous standard AP (access point) within the organization to provide wireless connectivity to both colleagues and customers in branch and corporate environments. The Cisco Catalyst 9100 Access Points are used to provide a seamless experience between wired and wireless connectivity for internal colleagues and guest access to serve our customers and vendors.

Cisco Aironet APs are well suited for enterprise office environments, where granular control of the wireless settings are required. Ideally the APs are paired with a 9800 and Catalyst Center to allow for ease of management. They are much less suited for a branch deployment where one or two APs are required - while still functional, cloud based solutions are often more appropriate for ease of use and management.

ALmost all scenarios can be match with those APs more specific depends on Antenna or Enviroment but either way they can come with 3rd party antennas or protections. Scenarios that are less appriopirate are where the prize matters, unfortunately some SOHO companies wont be able to leverage this solution share due to prize of the system

new series provide less coverage than old series like 1700 or 2700. secondly the compatibility matrix with wlc makes it mandatory to buy new APs to replace older ones even if they are still supported which makes it a negative point for clients. finally the pricing is too high

I have used cisco Aironet product earlier and it was far better in coverage than the latest Cisco Catalyst 9100 Access Points although latest one is with better throughput

Clean air feature for RF interference
Flexconnect feature
Mobilty express feature where we can use it as controller too

Cisco Aironet APs throughput was not much
AI features cannot be used if using aironet AP
Wifi6 feature not possible to use

Aironet AP can still be used in environment where throughput is not an issue, and we just need coverage for connection. It is less appropriate in todays world as we are moving away from coverage-based requirement to the best available wireless features of less interference,high throughput

Large enterprise facilities that depend on uptime are more likely to want to go with Aironet access points than a cheaper alternative. They are highly reliable and experienced very rare downtime with these access points. You will need IT Budget to go this route over cheaper competitors, but it will be money well spent.
