With our move to M365 we needed a solution to backup our Microsoft Online Data. Cohesity provided a solution that required no tool or agent installed onto our on-premise infrastructure. Everything is hosted via cloud which was ideal for to reduce our on-premise footprint.
Pros
Complete Cloud Solution
Easy to use Interface
Restoration of deleted items made seemless.
Cons
Include a dashboard that tells you how many of your licences have been used.
Separate Live mailbox and Archive mailbox backups
Some Errors could be made a bit more clear.
Likelihood to Recommend
Very easy to implement. No on prem infrastructure configuration required as it does a seemless connection to your M365 Tenancy. Data restoration and backup has never been easier.
Cohesity is our primary backup solution for more than 1500 servers in two different datacenters. It also provides File shares for several customers. We migrated from Commvault two years ago and are very pleased with the result. Cohesity is much faster to backup and restore and can provide instant recovery for the VM environment.
Pros
Physical server backup
VMware backup and restore
file serving - NFS, CIFS and S3
Cons
report features could be improved - particularly for a managed services environment
Likelihood to Recommend
Cohesity is an easy to use backup and restore system supporting on-prem and cloud workloads. One area of improvement would be in its reporting capabilities. We charge customers based on how much space they have used but this is difficult to compute based on the current reports available.

We use Cohesity as a back up for our data. It is used to protect our data in case of a disaster or a Cybersecurity incident.
Pros
Back up of data
Air gap
PACS data
Cons
Needs to improve for O365 data
Easier functions
Likelihood to Recommend
I would make this recommendation based on cost. It is a low cost solution. With every low cost solution, everything you need is not included. Cohesity suits our purposes for now. Their lack of O365 back up is not ideal and I think we will be looking for a more encompassing product.
We had problems with long backup times. Our one-year DPA took about 6 hours to back up. Now, we are able to back up our whole system in under 2 hours, and we are able to do 10-minute backups. We are also able to replicate to an off-site Cohesity and not overlap backups from the night before. We are able to restore a whole image in minutes. We can also run the VM on the Cohesity appliance if needed. The de-duplication we are getting is about a 4 to 1 debupe ratio.
Pros
lock down backups from ransomware.
Fast recovery time.
deduplications.
Cons
Software
Support
Price
Likelihood to Recommend
We use it to load backups and test to make sure they work.

Cohesity is a storage plus backup solution and also it can be used as file share solution which makes it an easy to go product while selecting the backup solution and the business problems that Cohesity solved is faster backup and recovery and it also provides the option to manage multiple Cohesity clusters from a single management console
Pros
Easy to learn
Easy to implement
Faster Backup and restores
Cons
Networking Complexity
Backup can be complication if not implemented properly
Likelihood to Recommend
Cohesity is a cluster based solution which comes as a storage plus backup solution, we also get the option to manage multiple Cohesity clusters at different location from a single management Pane called Helios. The snapshots of vmware backup are mounted on the Cohesity cluster itself reducing the load on the esxi host and no backup proxy required for the same.

Cohesity has been a great addition to our organization as a backup solution. We have been using it for the last 5 years now, and it is being used for backing up AWS instances, on-prem servers, and NAS shares. Using Cohesity is fairly easy since all configurations can be done from the GUI. However, at the same time, it is still not fully mature, and every now and then, we do face issues where we have to work with the support and development team to resolve them.
Pros
Cohesity is very easy to use.
Cohesity is versatile, we can backup all type of environment.
Cohesity is very flexible, it can very easy deployed in any region.
Cons
The support quality can be improved.
The tool is still not mature, so we end up doing a lot of troubleshooting.
The turnaround time for resolving an issue should be improved.
Likelihood to Recommend
Cohesity is an all-rounder as a tool for an organization's backup requirements. Due to its versatility, we use it for backing up our on-prem and AWS servers, and it works well. The price point is also on the lower side, so that is also a plus point. Configuring the backup of instances is fairly easy and straightforward. We have approx. 2000 instances are currently being backed up, and we don't face any challenges operating on a day-to-day basis.
We are currently using Cohesity for our on-prem backups, and backup as a service for all our M365/O365 applications. Our previous vendor was not able to complete all backups within a 24 hour time period, this caused items to miss backup schedules. A second appliance was added to try and help this issue, and it did for a brief period, then it was an issue again. Instead of adding a 3rd appliance we started shopping around for a new product.
Pros
Fast Backups
Really Fast Restores
Immutable File System
Cons
Currently have no issues with the product
If I had to come up with one item, I do have to restore VM's to physical hardware from time to time for deployment testing. I have to use a 3rd party product to deploy a backup to a bare-metal item. This would be a nice feature if it was native to Cohesity.
I wish I would have heard of Cohesity years ago and not about 3 years ago. I could have used them about 10 years ago.

Cohesity has been awesome. The performance (speed) that it has been able to provide has actually given me back time every month. I have to test my backups monthly, and the Cloning process that Cohesity has available from it's backup has given me days back each month. It just a few minutes I can have VMs restored for testing and documentation. This took a couple days with the previous vendor.
We use Cohesity Helios Backup to the Cloud and Office 365 Backup. We now have reliable offline backups and incremental immutable backups. It provides mission-critical backup and restore. O365 backup comes useful when it emails go "missing" - easy to operate interface helps us quickly recover what's needed. We never had to use any other services and we hope it will stay this way.
Pros
Easy setup
Great support
Easy management
Cons
Issue investigation
Error reporting
Log browsing

One of our system's database's become corrupt under the update. We have used Cohesity DataProtect to restore/download and mount the database to the server. The whole operation was very easy as you can download any files backed up to the cloud by download rather than full restore. The whole time taken to restore the database was much less than the other systems.
Cohesity DataProtect has made the VM backup so easy as it doesn't need any proxies and works seamlessly using the APIs and it also provides a centralized Helios interface, which helps in managing multiple setups.
Pros
VM backup using the APIs
Application aware backup
Backup copy & replication
Helios management interface for centralized management
Cons
Add support for public cloud applications
O365 backup
Likelihood to Recommend
It suits very well where you need to take the virtualized environment backup of any hypervisor like Nutanix, VMware, etc.

We use Cohesity DataProtect as our backup and disaster recovery solution for our multisite environment. We backup physical machines, virtual machines, and all of our databases using it. Cohesity DataProtect allows us to store all of our data in multiple locations with cross site replication and archives the cloud and keeps all of the data safe with immutability and encryption. The UI and reporting makes it easy to report to provide easy to follow information to the higherups. We utilize Helios with Cohesity DataProtect, to have complete control over the appliances from a single pane of glass.
Pros
Efficient backups
Deduplication saves space and allows for more storage on the appliance
Recoveries are quick
Cons
No calendar based scheduling
Backing up of databases can be clunky
Likelihood to Recommend
Cohesity DataProtect is a very robust solution that suits the needs of large companies. Protecting multiple locations is made simple and replication between multiple appliances makes recovery very easy in a worst case scenario. Smaller companies might find it to be overkill or out of the price range for what their needs are. The solution is top notch but is higher on the price scale.
