  • Intuitive interface and ease of setup for all skill levels
  • Responsive and effective customer support

Cons

Great overall construction management software for a great price.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Contractor Foreman is our central hub for Project, Employee, and Operations management for the entire company. One of the best things it does is handle project management and estimating in one place. It's nice to have a customer start as a lead, be 'escalated' up to a full project, and have a single spot where everything is tracked.

Pros

  • Project Management for Construction.
  • Estimation for construction work and CSV import of large datasets from estimation software like Handoff.
  • Employee time and location management.
  • Cost codes and financial breakdowns.

Cons

  • Timecards in rural areas are really difficult to handle. I know CF just released an offline timecard beta, which is a step in the right direction, but it would be nice to have offline data in the app and to have all timecards be offline until clockout, when they try to sync back to the server. The current beta doesn't work for us because it creates multiple timecards when the guys are in and out of signal.

Return on Investment

  • Contractor Foreman offers a great price for everything it handles. It saves us a lot of time by having a single source of truth for each project.
  • The one downside is that it doesn't have enough ORG level data; you have to manually calculate total projects rather than it showing you the "CEO View" so to speak.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Contractor Foreman for everything. As a small but scaling Commercial GC Company, we needed structure. We are growing from a husband-and-wife team into a boots-on-the-ground team with project managers for multiple projects and project sizes. The system allows me to schedule the boots where I need them, track financials, easily manage projects, perform progress/AIA billing, invoicing, and so much more. I run the entire business through Contractor Foreman and look forward to the new features rolling out.

Pros

  • Invoicing
  • Payment tracking.
  • Customizable
  • User Friendly.

Cons

  • In the CDB, I'd like to be able to create a line item with a specified percentage, and when I pull that line item into an estimate or proposal, I'd like the system to automatically calculate it based on that contract value. (Example, Contingency line is always going to be 15% of the contract value).
  • I'd like to be able to rearrange "blocks" on a page when I'm getting ready to send or print it. Lots of dead space on pages. Estimates 4 pages in total when it could be 2.
  • I'd like to be able to create budget summaries. Where the line items are grouped into their respective master format categories, and the category has the sum of all the line items in that category.

Return on Investment

  • It's been amazing so far. IT is extremely helpful to us to streamline and create new processes.

Usability

Contractor Foreman Company Review

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

At my organization, recordkeeping can quickly become disorganized due to the volume of documentation associated with each project. Contractor Foreman has significantly reduced this challenge by providing a centralized platform for document storage and organization. The software also allows employees to upload photos throughout the project lifecycle, including progress updates and final completion images. This feature enables management to verify that work is being completed to company standards while providing visibility into job site progress without the need for in-person visits. As a result, the platform improves accountability, documentation, and overall project oversight.

Pros

  • It excels at bringing multiple areas of project management together within one platform.
  • The photo documentation capability sets it apart from other software.
  • Although it's underutilized at my company, the scheduling and task management tools seem to have quite a lot of benefits and could provide valuable additions to those who take advantage of them.

Cons

  • Although Contractor Foreman does have photo upload capability, it is hard to sift through and load times can be extremely slow when there are several hundred pictures for a single project.
  • The software seems slightly outdated as compared to other similar platforms. It seems cluttered.
  • While useful on the go, the mobile app is levels below the actual software on the computer. While you would think load times would be faster on mobile, I noticed and felt they were much slower.

Return on Investment

  • The software has increased accountability in the field much further and it has really made a difference within our company in ensuring that workers in the field are actually at the point in projects that they say they are.
  • From an operational standpoint, Contractor Foreman has streamlined many administrative tasks and reduced manual recordkeeping. Having project information readily accessible has improved collaboration between our office staff and field personnel while creating a more organized record for future reference, customer requests, and closeout documentation.
  • While exportation of data is rather easy, I feel as though other platforms do the same, if not better for a cheaper price. When exporting data, there is typically an option to choose whether to export via PDF or Excel. For some reports, you are able to generate a web link to the data. This is extremely vital to system creation due to the simplicity of having a system reference a link rather than manually inserting an Excel / PDF file. I feel that if every custom data set were to have access to having a link be made, that the company would be able to have an even better ROI.

Usability

CF is worth the effort. Better company profile for sure.
