Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are using a Fortinet enterprise solution for our production site and the D/R site. In both cases we have a cluster of FortiGate appliance which addresses our security issues, VPN access, network segmentation and QOS.

Pros

Cons

In our experience, the FortiGate products are perfectly suited. They manage our security (VPN, IDS, WAF) and QOS very well and don't have really any complaints on them. What we noticed, sometimes, is that, even if in very few occasions, the security rules became, suddenly, extremely strict blocking allowed traffic. In this case a "refresh" of the rles fix the issue.

the first scenario is that FortiOS is a know solution for any network engineer also and like Cisco is the best way to have a great adminsitration. Fortinet FortiGate is well suited has the low price permit little and large enterprise/remote site too share the same solution and also to use the sdwan solution of FortiOS to interconnect them in a simple way. You can after that add UTM solution/feature for more security
