Overall Satisfaction with Fortinet FortiGate

We are using a Fortinet enterprise solution for our production site and the D/R site. In both cases we have a cluster of FortiGate appliance which addresses our security issues, VPN access, network segmentation and QOS.

Pros

  • VPN
  • Network segmentation
  • QOS
  • WAF

Cons

  • GUI
  • The ROI of network security and management has been extremely positive compared to similar prpducts because of the ease of use and high resilience.
Almost everything can be done by the GUI and the learning curve is not so steep. Even is it ha room for improvement, the CLI is always available for finer tuning.
The Fortinet products have been chosen because of our previous experience with them. The FortiClient is always used with our roaming users together theRedHAt authentications services and the IPS and Web Filtering addons are used, together the WAF, to strengthen our network security

Do you think Fortinet FortiGate delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Fortinet FortiGate's feature set?

Yes

Did Fortinet FortiGate live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Fortinet FortiGate go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Fortinet FortiGate again?

Yes

In our experience, the FortiGate products are perfectly suited. They manage our security (VPN, IDS, WAF) and QOS very well and don't have really any complaints on them. What we noticed, sometimes, is that, even if in very few occasions, the security rules became, suddenly, extremely strict blocking allowed traffic. In this case a "refresh" of the rles fix the issue.
