Very helpful for a small business with International Professionals

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We are a US based company with a C-Suite professional residing in Canada. We needed an international PEO to take care of this team member.

Pros

  • Expense reimbursements
  • Payroll
  • Vacation time

Cons

  • When there is an issue I have trouble getting a response unless I go to the person who helped us when we initially became customers
  • It took me a while to figure out how to download a full expense report instead of each individual item - that might say more about me than the software

Return on Investment

  • I am not aware of any ROI

Would Recommend G-P

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use G-P to act as an employer of record for a team member in Canada. Previously, this team member lived in the US and was employed directly through our organization. Once they moved to Canada, we looked at all of our options to be able to continue to work with this team member; including establishing a business in Canada, other EOR's and more. Ultimately, G-P ended up being the best solution as we had previous experience with a team member living in Japan employed using G-P as the EOR. For the level of compliance, support the employee would receive, and benefits offerings, G-P was the best choice for us.

Pros

  • On-Boarding of Account - Our account Rep, Adrian, was extremely helpful and responsive through the entire onboarding process of Canada and of the employee itself
  • Benefits offerings - we were able to match the benefits offerings close to that the employee previously had with our company, which was important as to never 'take something away' from a team member.
  • Payroll - the monthly payroll process compared to other EOR's we've used is extremely easy and user-friendly. Once setup, it flows as scheduled and invoicing is sent directly to those on file.

Cons

  • I had requested a quote for a EU employee while our rep was out of town, received a quote, gave feedback, but then never heard anything back. May have been lost in translation of the rep being out, but this was the only big issue.
  • When communicating on the support portal, the emails that come through can come through out of order and makes it VERY confusing and difficult to see the most recent responses without scrolling deeply or logging in to respond directly.

Return on Investment

  • We were able to retain top-tier talent in a very specialized field by being able to use G-P as an EOR. It was a significant help to our business to be able to retain this talent due to a location move, versus trying to re-hire or teach and train backfill.
  • The time back from not having to worry about establishing our business as an employer in another country is huge. Not having to pay another salary for HR to specialize in that countries compliant is worth every amount spent with G-P.
  • Knowing that we have G-P as an option allows us to be able to source talent for future initiatives outside of where our company is established.

G-P works well

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

The company uses the employer of record and the contractor model. We use them to ensure compliance and that we are informed of any new regulations in the 5 or so countries we have employees in. The contractor model helps to have quick contracts and payment set up for the contractors we hire as needed.

Pros

  • Country Insights
  • Contractor Payments
  • Support

Cons

  • Support email turnaround time. Sometimes I am chasing an answer down
  • the chat system
  • the employee profiles can be difficult to navigate

Return on Investment

  • Positive has been the compliance level and explanation of country rules
  • Not really a negative but tracking time off/holidays in Zoho and then separate for those who cannot use Zoho has just added a manual step for us
