Use Cases and Deployment Scope

IBM Maximo Application Suite is our enterprise management tool, where for our client, we use it to manage the lifecycle of an asset or an item, starting from creation to maintenance until becoming scrap. We will store all the information in our application. Using this, we will do preventive and predictive maintenance of the item. Also, we can monitor the health of the item regularly and keep track of inventory orders. If more items are needed via the reorder process we can order them. Also, we can do inventory spare parts management in IBM Maximo Application Suite. Also it has the feature of mobile application which is very useful for onfield technicians. Overall it's a complete package starting from creation till the scrapping of item or asset data will be stored also maintaining of these items or assets are done via IBM Maximo Application Suite.

IBM Maximo Application Suite is a perfect suite for the organizations that deal with large number of physical items or assets that will require structured maintainance processes and regulatory compliance. Organizations with large manufacturing capabilities and operations are most suited to use IBM Maximo Application Suite. IBM Maximo Application Suite is mostly suited for highly regulated industries such as pharmaceutical, oil and gas and automative industries such as car manufacturing truck manufacturing industries. Where as it is not needed much in smaller organization with less physical assets and management where companies that are operating in smaller levels. Also for the companies that requires rapid deployment and minimal configuration requirement. Basically to summarise it is less suited for organization with smaller operations with less physical asset management and mostly useful for organizations that are quite big in number with large operations and physical asset capacity.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

It's very useful for facility management where maintenance is required. Assets mangement reliability maintenance is the basic solution this tools provide.
The business problem this product address is basically the maintenance and tracking of assets, each asset is tracked and tagged based on their locations and maintenance can be done based on the schedules. It also provides great insights on the dashboard.

IBM Maximo Application Suite is well suited for applications on large scale organisation where implementation can take time but once done completely it will be a great investment. The scenarios where this application suites best is related to Asset management where we need to keep a track of assets along with all its details related to inventory management, along with permit to work application. All the modules is integrated seamlessly into the system with one another.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Maximo to track Engineering work orders, Maintenance Calls, Downtime, Qualification Documents, PM Schedules mainly. It is nice to have all these items in one place to be tracked other systems that I have used only do bits and pieces and it is hard to keep track of it all.

Revision Control for qualification documents
Tracking Machine Downtime
Reminding Maintenance about upcoming PMs.

Cons

There can be a bit of a learning curve when it comes to running it.
It is not always clear on error messages. For example, a missed required field when entering data can be hard to catch.
It can struggle sometimes exporting data into excel.

Likelihood to Recommend

We have a person on our team that is our Maximo admin. If no one is trained as the admin at the company, it can be very hard to use the software. Since that is not the case here, Maximo works great for everything from maintenance tracking and requests, document management, inventory management, and much more.

Work orders — we use them to report and track issues. The database maintains a history of submissions and includes contact information so the appropriate personnel can be reached for troubleshooting or to gather additional information on work orders.
