Business Problems Solved

AuthAnvil is a versatile tool that provides 2 Factor-Authentication for internal applications, ensuring secure access for employees. Users have deployed AuthAnvil across their entire organizations to comply with best practices and regulations for data and application security. It has also been utilized by clients to secure their own data and applications. AuthAnvil simplifies the login process by eliminating the need for multiple passwords on multiple websites. Users appreciate its convenience as it is connected to smartphones, making it more accessible than receiving authentication codes via text messages. This facilitates seamless and secure login experiences for multiple Kaseya tools, protecting each login with 2FA on multiple devices.

AuthAnvil is used in various departments such as engineering, manufacturing, and field service. Members of the IT team rely on AuthAnvil to address password management, implement single sign-on, and enable multi-factor authentication. Another noteworthy use case is two-factor authenticated remote VPN access into an AD-enabled windows environment. Moreover, AuthAnvil provides added security for logging into Kaseya's Virtual System Administrator, guarding against potential damage caused by unauthorized access. While initially causing some problems during setup that impacted IT support and Service Level Agreements due to user lockouts, AuthAnvil serves as a valuable solution for enhancing security measures and streamlining authentication processes within organizations.

Passly no way

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

When set up account was locked out for all users. This created a problem as our IT exclusively use Kaseya VSA for Tech Support. From my experience, we were not able to get in causing us to be essentially dead in the water when providing support to our users. This created a problem with our Service Leval Agreements.

Pros

  • not integrated properly
  • delayed responses
  • not reliable

Cons

  • integration
  • speed
  • testing before making live

Likelihood to Recommend

From my experience, Kaseya made a mistake with Passly. It does not work correctly. When it does work it is very delayed causing issues for logging into the system. When Kaseya was contacted they could not find users at all. When they finally found the users they could not edit it needing them to escalate to development to fix accounts.

Goes beyond 2FA because even you won't want to try to log in!

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Kaseya's AuthAnvil was used by my company as the Two-Factor-Authentication app for logging into Kaseya's Virtual System Administrator (VSA). It provided added security since our VSA had access to computers around the world that control our product. We wanted to make sure that connection was secure, because if an untrained user were to log in, it could cause damage to our products. This was used by engineering, manufacturing, and field service.

Pros

  • Provides 2FA to secure sites.
  • Constantly updates security codes.

Cons

  • Does not offer faster login for trusted devices.
  • App requires multiple clicks to get to security code.
  • App is slow to load.
  • App was difficult to install and pair and confirm as a trusted device. That process took over 30 minutes.

Likelihood to Recommend

I do not know how to implement AuthAnvil in other situations, but if you choose to use Kaseya's VSA (which I don't recommend), using AuthAnvil is required for logging in. When it comes to securing the site, using an app to proved the 2FA can give you lots of peace of mind. However, Kaseya's VSA would automatically log out after about 10 minutes of idle time, so it became tedious to constantly have to use 2FA on the same device multiple times a day.

Kaseya makes my job easier

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

AuthAnvil provides a secure way for employees to access their software. It’s easier than having to type multiple passwords into multiple websites. It’s connected to the smart phone, so it’s easier than having it text you a number. We have utilized multiple Kaseya tools and AuthAnvil gives us the capability of being secure with each login.

Pros

  • Easy to use.
  • Multiple sites to choose from.

Cons

  • Requires some training for initial setup.
  • More integration with 3rd party tools.

Likelihood to Recommend

If your MSP is growing at a rapid rate and you need to utilize multiple applications, AuthAnvil is perfect for your growing needs. That’s because Kaseya has a lot of very well made apps (IT Glue, VSA, BMS, etc). It will help your employees find what they’re looking for without getting confused. You’ll also be protecting your company with its security settings.

Kaseya AuthAnvil Review

Rating: 5 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

AuthAnvil is used to provide 2 Factor-Authentication for various internal applications. It was deployed in general across the entire organization as all employees require access to our core applications. It provided compliance with several best-practices and regulations for the security of company data and applications. It was also deployed across several of our clients' environments and used to secure their data and applications.

Pros

  • AuthAnvil is simple to use. Whether using an OTP code or push notifications, the application is user-friendly.
  • AuthAnvil applications are easy for the end-user to install.
  • AuthAnvil is readily available across multiple platforms (Windows, Android, iOS).

Cons

  • AuthAnvil's administration can be complex. Without skilled IT staff to administer it, you may not be able to implement it internally.
  • Reliability. Many applications just did not inter-operate well with AuthAnvil. It was often problematic.
  • Inconsistent. Sometimes the application would work fine, and others it didn't. There was no rhyme or reason to the inconsistency.
  • Support from the manufacturer was often slow.

Likelihood to Recommend

If you have a skilled IT support team (whether in-house or outsourced) that is familiar with Kaseya's applications and has a good relationship with the vendor, it may be a good fit. It "checks the box" for 2FA, but there are much simpler solutions out there today that can get the same job done with less complexity and, in many cases, at a lower cost.

Solid, Secure option for basic MFA.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Kaseya AuthAnvil to provide 2FA at our company. We use it in combination with our VSA, as well as with our RDP authentication on windows machines. We have multiple people that need access to the same account, and AuthAnvil allows us to use 2FA on multiple devices with their Just In Time Account feature.

Pros

  • Security.
  • It has an easy to use dashboard.
  • They have a good mobile app.

Cons

  • More functionality.
  • Better documentation.
  • Better logging.

Likelihood to Recommend

AuthAnvil is well suited for basic 2FA authentication. If you are using it to secure cloud apps, it does the job very well. It provides you with multiple methods (Code, Push, Call, Text) to authenticate, and push notifications arrive quickly. The windows/RDP authentication program isn't the best. It's a little clunky, and doesn't allow for push authentication.

A good solution to supplement two-factor auth requirements...

Rating: 8 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use AuthAnvil to support two-factor authenticated, remote VPN access into an AD-enabled windows environment.

Pros

  • Relatively simple integration with AD via Radius
  • Self-service portal for Token management
  • Use of third-party token hardware

Cons

  • Web interfaces are relatively complex, not entirely ready for end-users
  • Token transfers are slightly cumbersome (e.g. moving from hard to soft-token and vice-versa)
  • It remains as a separate, local AD-driven solution, independent from external, rising auth platforms (e.g. Azure)

Likelihood to Recommend

Local environments requiring the use of two-factor, third-party authentication in order to provide additional layers of security.
