We use ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus to help us comply with our 14 day patching schedule, we have set up automatic deployments for both Windows and Third party apps, we typically install updates for most software using MS Intune but for all the smaller third party apps that tends to get missed, ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus comes in handy and catches most of them. It has definitely been a good asset when it comes to our security audits.
  • Automatic Deployments
  • List of Third Party App Patches
  • Ease of Use
  • Autodesk Patches would be nice
  • Inbuilt vulnerability with automated patching would be a great feature to implement.
  • Not much integration except for with Tenable
ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus is great if you just need something to catch automatically deploy patches without the need to continuously check in with the system. It also has a test and prove feature that can push out patches to test on a few machines and then if it all works it will auto-approve the patch if you notice the patch does not work then you can manually deny the patch. If you're looking for a solution where you can upload your own patches, this is not it.
  • Keeps patches up to date for security audits

We use ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus to patch our Windows Server estate. Previously we were using WSUS which was proving hard to manage servers with failed patches which would sometimes take hours to report in. ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus is instantaneous and makes patching so easy now. Fixing patching issues can be done within 15 minutes rather than hours.
  • Reporting
  • Management of Computers from the console
  • Broad range of 3rd party applications
  • Would like to be able to still install patches that are older than 3 months
  • Would like to be able to upload our own installers, but understand this is part of endpoint central
ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus is great if you want to have a single solution to patch your entire server estate. It provides great reporting for our Security team so we know we have the latest security patches. Since it's installation we have been able to patch third party software which we've never been able to do before.
  • It has saved engineers so much time when monitoring patching out of hours.
  • We no longer need to log into each individual server to patch it if it's failed, it can all be done from inside ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus itself.
We previously used Microsoft Windows Server Update Services (WSUS). The reporting was extremely limited and all remediation had to be done manually, you can't initiate a reboot or a manual install like you can from ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus. Creation of Automated Patching groups is easy and we no longer have to mess around with group policies like we did with WSUS.

IT security nowadays has become of primary concern and given our very large number of PCs and Laptops (more than 1400) all connected to LAU’s network and having internet access, we realized that it is of utmost importance to have a solid patching solution. Up until now, we were relying on Microsoft WSUS for updating Microsoft products but over the past several years, it proved to be extremely unreliable and problematic. We tested Microsoft SCCM for the patching role but it also proved to be extremely impractical, unreliable and cumbersome. We did research to find out what are the best patch management (PM) applications on the market, tested 7 different products and found ManageEngine PATCH MANAGER Plus to be the best effective solution for our needs. Now we have an efficient automated solution that keeps our 2000+ PCs, Laptops and servers up to date and safe.
  • Integrates with Active Directory
  • Agent deployment on endpoints
  • It has a lot of very comprehensive rules and queries that can be used to group clients for the division of tasks
  • ManageEngine PATCH MANAGER Plus can patch servers as well as normal operating systems
  • It has a rich user interface that is easy to understand and navigate
  • Supports patching Mac OS and Linux in addition to Windows operating systems
  • Patching based on AD groups. It does not understand AD groups
  • Provide more agent/user options
  • Work with Solaris
If you are managing a very large number of computers, I would say 1000+, the standard patching tools provided by Microsoft will fail to do their job properly. This is where you will benefit from ManageEngine PATCH MANAGER Plus, being agent-based it is fast, easy to manage, and reliable. If you require functionality more than just patching, like security auditing, you have to look elsewhere.
  • Ease of management
  • Ability to handle different operating systems including servers
  • Good integration with Active Directory
  • Ability to handle 3rd party applications
  • The number of vulnerabilities in our infrastructure as reported by Qualys has gone down by 78% since implementing ManageEngine PATCH MANAGER Plus
  • We did not have a single virus outbreak since ManageEngine PATCH MANAGER Plus was implemented
  • After automating patch deployment, it operates standalone and administration time needed is at a minimum
SolarWinds was not selected because it runs on top of SCCM which in itself is problematic and unreliable. We need an application that runs in standalone mode and does not rely on any other application. SolarWinds is also one of the most expensive. Kaseya and GFI LanGuard are overkill as they contain functionality that we do not need or already have. GFI LanGuard for instance does security auditing the same as Qualys that we already have. Kaseya is a full management and automation solution.

We use ManageEngine Patch Manager Plus to assist with third-party application patchings, such as 7Zip, WinSCP, and Putty. The big problem that this software addressed is patching software for users who do not connect to corporate networks for more than 30 days. PatchManager solved that issue for us because it only needs to be connected to the internet.
  • Easy to Use UI.
  • Easy to understand dashboards.
  • Quick and effective support.
  • More customization.
  • The same set of software should be available on both on-prem and cloud.
  • Better reporting features.
Patch Manager is well suited for users that work remotely or away from main sites for long periods of time. It provides the patch administrator access to update the machine without requiring users to come to the head office.

  • Increased insight into applications installed on end user machines.
  • Less time spending creating packages in SCCM.
  • End users do not have to make time to travel to the head office or a corporate network for updates.
Patch Manager Plus does the most basic job of monitoring machines, deploying packages silently, and keeping machines up to date.
The support team at Patch Manager Plus has been awesome. Very responsive and knowledgeable. There are times when there is confusion between different tickets but there is still good service.
