Categories & Use Cases

Best Software Application for Collaboration Simulation of 3D Model

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

As a BIM Engineer, we did the modeling of metro stations, substations. Navisworks helps us to combine all the models i.e architecture, structure, electrical together for collaboration and do thorough clash detection at the early stage of our design so that we can remove the clashes by combining all the models and design a clash-free model.

Pros

  • Clash detection
  • Collaboration
  • Simulation

Cons

  • The free version of Navisworks is unable to append new files.
  • One thing about Navisworks is that it doesn't have the facility to go to the 3D view of a particular area, autodesk may take a look over that.
  • Sometimes it shows many clashes for a single clash thus increasing the number of clashes in the final report.

Most Important Features

  • Clash detection
  • We can open and combine 3D models and navigate them in real-time
  • We can set the view points

Return on Investment

  • Yes it is worth having Navisworks, as it can detect clashes and its other features help to complete models clash-free thus increasing productivity and saving time.

Working with Navisworks is easy as ABC

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have multiple Autodesk products like Revit, Autocad, Inventor, plus dealing with other 3D parts provided my other 3D solutions. Also, we have step file, iges files, etc. We use Navisworks to open multiple of these software to see how they look like together. We also do the collision detection which is a very useful feature.

Pros

  • opening multiple files
  • collision detection
  • opening different 3D CAD extensions

Cons

  • files are big sometimes

Return on Investment

  • It does save time in our organization when handling the models.
