Nonimo

Nonimo is a data masking tool that lets professionals use AI assistants without exposing their clients' personal data. Before text goes to ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Copilot, Nonimo replaces names, ID numbers, International Bank Account Numbers (IBANs), email addresses, and case or invoice references with placeholders such as [PERSON_1] or [REFERENCE_1]. When the answer comes back, the original details are restored on the user's own screen, so the AI assistant receives only the placeholders and the user does not have to edit a draft by hand. The vendor states that the masking runs on the user's own computer.

Where it works

• In any app, with one key: The user selects text in an email, Word, or Teams and presses a key to mask the client data.
• In Chrome and Safari: The browser extension masks text pasted into ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini, and works together with the Nonimo app on Mac or Windows.
• In files: Client data inside Word, Excel, PDF, and PowerPoint files is masked before the file goes to an AI assistant.
• In ID documents: Chosen fields on a passport or driving licence can be covered, and the copy is watermarked with its purpose and the month.
• Inside company systems: For organizations that connect their own applications to AI through an application programming interface (API), Nonimo Gateway masks the data on the organization's own servers before each request goes out.
