Use Cases and Deployment Scope

At MOJ, we use Nuxeo as a backbone of all applications related to archiving and digitization. It serves as a central repository for all real-estate documents nationwide. Nuxeo helped us automate our business processes with ease and flexibility with great and predictable scalability under very demanding workloads.

Pros

  • Process automation
  • Scalability
  • Deployment flexibility
  • Low-code platform

Cons

  • Issues with highly orchestrated containerized deployments

Likelihood to Recommend

Having tried competing products in the same segment, I would easily recommend Nuxeo. Not only are they doing a great job at building a highly flexible content platform, but the team behind it is supportive and dedicated.

An Instinctive Tool for Digital Asset Management

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

The basic usage of Nuxeo in our organization is as digital asset management, and after that, it is used as a document repository in our premises. It has been a hectic task to manage digital assets before, but with Nuxeo, we can manage millions of our assets using the hybrid model. It is good enough to provide a solution to our content retention.

Pros

  • Its integration is not only just simple, but it also offers flexibility.
  • They are improving themselves continuously and provide updates.
  • Its customization is highly evident.
  • The document repository is its other strength.

Cons

  • Its documentation is not enough.
  • We have randomly selected as there is no select-all option.
  • Installation of this tool takes a bit long and it should be resolved.

Likelihood to Recommend

It is a must-try software for companies that want customizable solutions, and it is a profoundly adaptive tool. We can manage metadata, and it is good to expand your organization and take your organization up and build a trustworthy name in the tech market. It is favorable for all-sized organizations as it generates solutions that perfectly match an organization's needs.

Nuxeo for Higher Education

Rating: 7 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Nuxeo to store and manage curriculum content. Nuxeo stores binary assets and references to external assets that are used in a course. We combine this with a CDN for use within the actual course. It includes a highly customized taxonomy, workflows, intellectual property rights management, and permissions around usage and curation.

Pros

  • Ability to customize the taxonomy
  • Robust API
  • Create workflows around ingestion and curation

Cons

  • Customizing the UI requires a lot of effort and technical knowledge
  • Nuxeo Cloud environment is not robust or mature
  • Troubleshooting errors is difficult

Likelihood to Recommend

Nuxeo is good in its core functionality of typical DAM functions. It is also very customizable but requires a high level of technical ability for customization. This would be a difficult system to manage without a development team. Actual work by the developers is not overly difficult but does require a dedicated team that is familiar with the Nuxeo infrastructure.

Nuxeo is a great platform to build custom solutions with a huge head start!

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Nuxeo is currently being used as a Digital Media and Asset Management system. Specifically, it is used to capture our video masters [and] create consumables of those videos as well as manage some of our other digital media assets. It is used by the Publishing Department, which creates almost all of the video and other digital assets. Some departments do still manage some of their assets independently, yet there seems to be a slow and consistent movement to Nuxeo, which is still very new in our organization. The assets under management in Nuxeo are used to represent the Church globally.

Nuxeo provides a platform that is flexible and dynamic for us. We have applied its capabilities to create more collaboration and access to our digital assets. We are able to tailor the system to do some unique things such as enrich our assets with data from other systems via integrations for Product, Rights and Project Management.

Pros

  • Allows customization
  • Leverages APIs
  • Offers a cookbook of add-on capabilities

Cons

  • The ability to round-trip the actual data with the content model from Studio in a visual way
  • The ability to decompile complex multi-valued fields so the contents can be used in a filter

Likelihood to Recommend

Nuxeo works very well for us as a Digital Media Asset Management tool. I understand given its flexibility, it has also been used for managing insurance claims. It seems to be well suited for uses where some customization is required, yet there is a desire to leverage best practices, reusable code components.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Nuxeo is being used at the level of my department. We are using it for the purpose of creating applications with low code requirements facilitating internal efficiencies, and improving the interaction between the employees. It addresses the problem of the absence of a tool letting make such kinds of highly personal and customizable applications.

Pros

  • User management
  • Low code operations
  • Easiness of deployment
  • Superb user interface

Cons

  • Less content about app online
  • Documentation
  • Integration
  • Costing

Likelihood to Recommend

Digital asset management

No code/low code app designing and deployment

Won't be that much preferable if you are looking for software with a nice amount of guides/tutorials online

Nuxeo provides great flexibility

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We purchased Nuxeo as the basis for our Content Service Platform to fill the Digital Asset Management Space and track the millions of digital assets we have as an organization. We use it for image, audio, and video assets for our production teams across the globe. It has helped us centralize management and enable archive and lifecycle management.

Pros

  • Low code
  • Strong, flexible data model
  • Easily configure custom business rules
  • Flexible UI

Cons

  • Bulk actions need work
  • The UI needs maturing
  • Spreadsheet editor needs improvement

Likelihood to Recommend

I like to describe Nuxeo as getting you 90% of the way to wherever you want to go, but 100% of the way to nowhere. This 10% allows flexibility to add your own custom business rules and operations. This is different than a complete off-the-shelf solution that provides 100% of a solution but does not give you the flexibility that you need. If you want a platform that can adjust to your needs, use Nuxeo. If you are looking for a turnkey solution that will get you off the ground 100 % of the way out of the gate, other options may be better for you.

Nuxeo is a CMS solution - offers quick acceleration but is a pain to improve with

Rating: 1 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Nuxeo for:

<ul><li>User management and as an identity provider to other software components</li><li> CMS - content management - binary files that are used by other software components</li></ul>It's being used in 3 products in which I am involved. However, it is also used by other parts of the organization.

Pros

  • Upload, store and manage permissions for binary files
  • Provides automation for content management tasks
  • User and identity management

Cons

  • Public documentation - it has some + public forums, but we felt more is needed
  • Back-end management - the web UI is fancy, but it sometimes translates to some tough to understand implementations
  • Starting sequence of on-premise installations - Java gibberish in the logs; sifting is required to identify real issues from acceptable ones
  • No built-in monitoring and performance alerting

Likelihood to Recommend

Although it has a fancy web UI, some community content going on, and active support, the back-end part of Nuxeo appears convoluted - I feel such is the case with all middleware components that provide a fancy UI over-complicated implementations &amp; auto-generated code. Nuxeo is used when a company wants to solve several challenges at once - CMS use cases. [In my opinion] Nuxeo has a learning curve. It's a Java application, but its use by Java developers in a dynamic environment (lots of work, less time to learn and iterate) is really problematic.

Cons

  • UI not so good to handle

Improve you content preparation processes with Nuxeo

Rating: 9 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

When I came to work in the organization as a product advisor, they already chose Nuxeo as the main tool for working with content. My role was to adapt the content strategy, including all business processes, to this tool and launch continuous delivery of content to users through a dedicated website.

Pros

  • Super fast and usable search
  • You can compose your own workflow process with content
  • Fast content loading, performance is must for SEO
  • Great content analytics out of the box

Cons

  • Too hard to start, onboarding need to be improved
  • Some UI elements are not usable

Likelihood to Recommend

If you need to organize the entire process of preparing and publishing content for your target audience from scratch, then Nuxeo is a very good choice. You can design key points of interaction between content preparation participants and users and then improve the processes by observing analytics. If you are just looking for an alternative to WordPress, then this may not be for you since the interaction of all participants is more difficult here.
