Team Lead in Marketing (51-200 employees employees)
Use Cases and Deployment Scope
We've been using Odoo CRM since 2022 to manage leads, opportunities, deals, and customers. It is used across the sales and marketing teams, with almost 200K contacts. CRM is just one of many Odoo apps we use to support our sales and marketing teams. It's an integral part of the business and helps generate and manage the revenue. We're an enterprise customer and also use their Odoo.sh hosting.
Pros
Easy to customize with Python or code-free in Studio.
Highly granular filtering, grouping, and sorting.
Built in data enrichment (extra cost).
Cons
Performance can be abysmal.
The upgrade process requires manual intervention from Odoo support due to custom Studio fields, even though they advertise it as upgrade-proof.
Many Odoo features are shallow and not well thought out.
Changes in Studio can easily break views due to corrupt XML.
No spam filtering for incoming sales team alias email addresses.
Issues in other Odoo apps will break entire Odoo, making CRM unavailable.
Completely unusable sales/marketing reporting. It was created by engineers to tick a box, not with any sales/marketing input to make them actually usable.
Return on Investment
We're managing millions of dollars in sales orders.
20-30% of time can be spent on fixing or dealing with issues, partially because of Odoo.sh hosting platform limitations.
Odoo CRM does allow us to do what we need to run a successful business; it's just 5 years behind HubSpot and Salesforce.

Sales & Marketing Director in Sales at iACS (11-50 employees employees)
Use Cases and Deployment Scope
When we begun using Odoo for Manufacturing planning, it was a natural transiton over to the CRM module as we didn't have anything concretely in place for this at the time. We were a considerably smaller company when we implemented it (5 employees!) so at the time, it acted as mainly a customer directory where I could take notes following sales meetings and keep track of potential leads. As we've grown over the last 4 years to 20 employees, Odoo plays a very integral role in our companies organisation where our sales team generates quotations for customers with it daily and it continues to be the main point of reference for picking up old leads and organising our customer database.
Pros
Generating quotations partiuclarly for the ease of data amendment so that products can be added on the fly and names can be amended per quote to suit
The contact tagging feature is a fantastic way of grouping customers/leads into industry specific groups for targetting specific areas seperately
Very versatile customer pricelist function for ensuring discount structures are accurately calculated
Cons
It would be great to have a custom dashboard with editable graphs and reporting
The quotation PDF is limited in how it can be changed and I'd prefer using our own custom design rather than the odoo defaults
Return on Investment
We've 10x'ed our turnover since implementing Odoo
We have trackable quotations across the team so we can all access eah others quotes when people are away
