Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is widely adopted by organizations for application hosting, often transforming applications into Software-as-a-Service offerings, and for robust database management. In TrustRadius reviews, users leverage OCI to streamline deployment processes and handle large datasets efficiently, particularly with autonomous databases. Reviewers frequently highlight its strong performance in scalability and elasticity, allowing dynamic adjustment of compute and storage resources, alongside its competitive pricing model.

The platform consistently delivers significant cost optimization through its pay-as-you-go billing and precise resource control, which all five reviewers noted, leading to improved operational efficiency. However, areas for improvement include customer support and documentation, which some reviewers found confusing, and limitations in service capabilities like messaging queues. Initial setup and integration with third-party tools also present challenges for some users, suggesting a steep learning curve. Despite these points, reviewers generally report a positive return on investment, valuing OCI's ability to align costs with actual usage.

What positive or negative impact (i.e. Return on Investment or ROI) has Oracle Cloud Infrastructure had on your overall business objectives?

From 5 reviews | Last Published May 27, 2026

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) has positively impacted business objectives, primarily by enabling significant reductions in infrastructure costs and enhancing operational efficiency. Three of five reviewers specifically highlighted that OCI led to decreased infrastructure expenditures, often attributed to its consumption-based pricing model and the straightforward management of cloud resources. Concurrently, the platform has fostered improved operational efficiency, a benefit also noted by three of five reviewers, through streamlined management processes and reduced reliance on manual tasks. These financial and operational advantages are closely linked to OCI's inherent scalability and flexibility, which allow organizations to adapt resource allocation dynamically without extensive prior planning, thereby optimizing both cost and human resource utilization. The ability to easily scale resources up or down, as reported by two of five reviewers, underpins the overall positive return on investment by aligning costs with actual usage and simplifying IT management.

Reduced Infrastructure Costs

Easy to create and destroy instances saves overall infrastructure costs.

Improved Operational Efficiency

Since we have all customers on one cloud, managing and applying fixes is very easy for us.

Scalability and Flexibility

With instant scalability, we dont have to make a projection about the requirement prior.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure aims to provide flexible cloud infrastructure solutions to run any workload at an optimized cost. How has Oracle Cloud Infrastructure’s flexibility and cost optimization impacted your business objectives? Be as specific as possible.

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is consistently highlighted by reviewers for its positive impact on business objectives through significant cost optimization and enhanced operational flexibility. All 5 reviewers specifically noted cost benefits, primarily attributing these to a pay-as-you-go billing model and the ability to precisely manage resource allocation. This granular control over resources, coupled with OCI's inherent flexibility, allows organizations to avoid over-provisioning and only pay for what they use. Four out of 5 reviewers also emphasized the platform's scalability, which enables businesses to adapt compute instances and other resources to fluctuating demands without substantial upfront investment. The synergy between flexibility and cost-effectiveness appears to be a key driver for businesses leveraging OCI, allowing them to optimize infrastructure spending while maintaining agile operations.

Cost Optimization

We are saving lot of money as earlier we use to spend for our own infra but with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure all those problems solved including manpower also with a lot of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure available tools we can observe any unused resources easily and terminate them especially unused block volumes, LBs, Instances, DB resources etc so with this we optimise costs with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

Flexibility and Scalability

With OCI we are able to add and remove compute instances on demand basis. In this way we can add the resources whenever we need it, thus saving the infrastructure cost.

Describe how you use Oracle Cloud Infrastructure in your organization. What are the business problems the product addresses and what is the scope of your use case?

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) is primarily utilized by organizations for application hosting and database management, addressing challenges related to deployment efficiency and data handling. Three of five reviewers noted using OCI to host their applications, often transforming them into Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) products, and found the platform facilitated easier deployment without extensive infrastructure team involvement. Concurrently, 3 of 5 reviewers highlighted OCI's role in database management, particularly leveraging autonomous databases for simplified maintenance and using services like Oracle Autonomous Data Warehouse for querying large datasets. While OCI is also adopted for its perceived scalability and flexible pricing, as mentioned by 3 of 5 reviewers, there is mixed sentiment regarding resource management. A notable concern, raised by 2 of 5 reviewers, centers on cost and pricing, specifically the discrepancy between initial expectations of 'lifetime free' services and the reality of these services being temporary.

Application Hosting and Deployment

So with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, we hosted all our applications in one place and we are giving them as a SAAS product.

Database Management

With Oracle Cloud Infrastructure management of Databases is very easy and with autonomous databases, we don't have to worry about maintenance work like patches, backups etc.

Scalability and Resource Management

Handling changing traffic was a challenge for us and for this we needed dynamically scalable storage resources, which was achieved using Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

Please provide some detailed examples of areas where Oracle Cloud Infrastructure has room for improvement.

Reviewers identified several areas where Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) could enhance its offerings and user experience. A significant proportion of reviewers, specifically 3 out of 5, pointed to deficiencies in customer support and documentation, noting that the latter can be extensive but confusing. Similarly, 3 of 5 reviewers highlighted limitations in OCI's service capabilities, suggesting the introduction of new messaging queues and improvements to existing services like transcription and vision. The initial setup process and user interface were also cited by 2 of 5 reviewers as areas needing refinement, with one describing the setup as time-consuming and complex, leading to a steep learning curve. Furthermore, 2 of 5 reviewers indicated challenges with integration, particularly with third-party tools, and found migration from legacy systems to be difficult. These observations collectively suggest opportunities for OCI to streamline user onboarding, expand its service ecosystem, and improve support resources.

Customer Support and Documentation

Customer support needs an improvement

Service Limitations and Improvements

They should introduce messaging queue like pub/sub or sqs

Setup and User Interface

Initial setup is time consuming and can be complex, there a longer learning curve for first timers.
